My Grandmother and the Olympics, she is a nut (Monday Update, pg. 4)

Your grandma is awesome.:D She'd get along great with my grandma.

Ha, just got another email from Grandmere (she doesn't like Grandma, she thinks Grandmere is much more sophisticated, ha). The French settings are actually my computer (I work for a French company, we go overboard)
She and her Tivo are KILLING me today.

Anyone see that 106 lb weight class women's weightlifting? Question is, does weightlifting do that to your face, or do you go into weightlifting because your face is like that?

Loved it, but tell Grandma that if they take the scaffolding down the whole thing collapes SO then all we have is a pile of ruins (and Athens is FULL of piles of ruins! )

Dana, ask GrandMERE what she thinks of the womens' WRESTLING -- new event this year   .

Also, does she have any comments about the womens' beach volleyball? Everyone else seems to . . .

I so enjoyed reading this thread. Please post updates...post them quick, and post them often!!!

P.S. I think Jay Leno needs to send your GM and the Fruitcake Lady to do the commentary for the next Academy Awards. Now that would be worth watching. Just the fashion comments alone would put Joan Rivers to shame. ::yes::

Grandmere sounds like one heckuva neat lady! What a riot!

I, too, would love to see her match wits with the Fruitcake Lady. I bet those two would have a lot of fun with each other. :)

I noticed Phelps' teasing suit as well (how could you not??) :faint: And I think he did actually have a little crack showing at one point.

I think the gymnasts sounds like that because they train SO hard from such an early age that it affects their puberty, including voice changes and growth.

And I agree - there is no way that Russian gymnast is not anorexic. She's always been thin, but she looks like she's going to break in pieces when she does some of those moves.

Dana (my name is also Dana!),

Your grandma is so much like mine! I miss her so much! :( She loved sports and told it like it was! Also got her bachelor's degree in 1922 or 24, completely unheard of back then! She was an "old maid" when she finally found a man to put up with her opinions! My grandpa was 9 years younger than her to boot, God bless him! (she was 36 when she got married and had twins the same year) She died in 2002, just before her 93rd birthday. Give her a big squeeze for me!

Dana #1 made me laugh out loud -- tell your Grandmother I'm waiting for the same thing. What a lady, she is too much!!

How about that big meatball of a US shotput contender who finished second for his 5th silver medal in a row in international competition. You figure he could throw that hunk of metal one inch further for the gold but I have never thrown anything that heavy in my life, except maybe one of my children.

Is the same hormone that makes people grow also the one that holds hair in their heads?

The volleyball men are talented. I do wish they wore the shorter shorts that the NBA players wore back in the 1970’s. I would like to see some sculpted buns.

And that girl swimmer from the 4 x 200 freestyle relay, Karlie Piper, has broader shoulders than either of my husbands. If I ever have a fire, I want Ms. Piper to haul me out the front door, or else that shotputter to throw me. She should be a fireman!

She is a riot!! keep em coming! Did she have anything to say about the Men's Gymnastic's competition last night?

Holy cow, I almost spewed my OJ all over the screen reading her comments. More, more, more!!! :teeth:

Grandmere is so wise.

10. Paul Hamm, what a gymnast, but he sounds like he could understudy Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music.

I can't stop laughing about this one. Your grandma's a hoot!::yes::
