My glass got washed away!

I was shocked this morning when we emptied the dish washer to find that the designs on both WDW glass steins were washed off completely. I have no idea what happened! They've both been washed before and have come out perfectly.

Is this shoddy materials from WDW or maybe we used a harsh setting on the washer?

Quick question: Did they have a statement on the bottom saying that they were dishwasher safe? I have a couple of items from WDW which specifically say they're not.

What type of dish detergent did you use some may contain compounds that are good t removing that stuff

I always wash stuff like that by hand. Even if it does't appear to damage, after a while the dishwasher takes it's toll on them, fading, chipping, etc.
