OK when I went to NYC to meet up with Lisa I had blisters on my foot not sure what they were from. Apparently I had a spider bite on the bottom of my foot that I didn't know and never got taken care of for about 5 weeks. So these blisters appeared and my foot and ankle swelled. I walked the city and when I got home was in so much pain. I waited until Monday to go to the emergency room and was placed on lots of meds. I went to the wound care center at the hospital I work at and had to do lots of soaks and continue on medications for 20 days. Things looks great for about a week and a half. Then everything went bad again. back on some meds and not getting better. I can't take off of work cause I used up my personal time already. So I go back to the wound care center today and the Doctor who I love says you need this med. I go to the pharmacy and get dealt with the blow of 300.00 :scared1:for the medication. I nearly lost it. Of course I worked last night and went right from work and this was now about 10:30 in the morning and I was hitting exhaustion. I call the wound care center and asked if there was anything else I can take and guess what they said. NO he really wants you to take this med. Well there goes more spending money for Disney. I guess I have to look at it like I have to get better for Disney. right????
Just need some words of encouragement and knew I can always find it here. Thanks for being here!!!!

I can totally understand. A few years back I went to WDW with a spot of poison ivy on the back of my heel right where the shoe rubbed. 5 days later I was in the hospital with a form of necrotizing fasciitis :scared1: Still have scars on that leg! The meds for that must be delivered in an armored car. :rolleyes1 Anuwau I hope thes new meds kill the infection for you so you can enjoy your trip!

Oh no, that sounds pain and uncomfortable. While it's unfortunate that you need to take Disney spending money, you need the medicine. If it was one of the kids, you would doing it in a heartbeat. You are just as important.

I hope you feel better soon. I know I have terrible reactions to spider bites, sounds like we be spider sistahs!

Oh Cindy, I feel so bad....hope the new meds work....heck for $300 they'd better! take care of yourself, definately need to have that foot healthy for disney

:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

Yes, the price definitely bites... but remember YOU are the priority right now... Your family needs you to keep things together!!! It's unfortunate that the price is SO high... I hope you feel better soon!!!!

Wow that is such a steep price. But if it will work, is it not worth it? Think what would happen if you were forced to not work because of it. You would lose much more $$ because of that.

Sorry you have lose the spending money for Disney. Bright side is you will still be at Disney.

HUGS and PIXIE DUST!

Its much better to take the meds and kick it once and for all. Kicky came back from Scout camp with blisters around a bite and teh leader said to take him to ER because it might be cellulitus. The Dr there confirmed and prescribed pennicillin (even though our GP had said he might be allergic) and so we started the meds. He had two HUGE blisters (over 1" across:scared1:) and we wnet back to our GP to get extra meds because we were going on vacation on the Monday and wanted to be sure it would clear up so he could go in the pool.

He still has scars and had to take meds fr the first 3 days of the vacation, but it did get better so he could swim from the first day. The price is an owie for you need to be well (and earning) for your Disney trip. When you're fit and healthy in WDW you'll be confident you've made the right decision:thumbsup2

hey Cindy, hope you foot is feeling better :goodvibes

Like Lisa said - you are just as important and if you need the meds, then you take them.

I work as a pharmacy technician now (in school to get my doctorate in pharmacy, which is why I'm hardly ever on the boards any more) and I know some meds are outrageously expensive. If you don't have insurance or your insurance won't cover that particular medicine it can be insane! My mom was on a breathing med that cost $2,000/month :eek: Thank goodness my daddy's insurance covered all but $3 or they would have gone bankrupt in a year.

Good luck!!

Thank you for all your encouragement. I got a call this morning that my culture came back with MRSA so now on one more med. That was only $8.00. not too bad. I hope this knocks everything out!
I just have to get through the next 3 nights at work then I'm off till next Sunday night.
