My flight has changed!

I just went to Expedia.com to see if they had my tracking number or ticket numbers yet and all it said was that my flight had changed, and to call this number. I'm so frustrated right now. It seems to be just my arrival flight that's changed since it's no longer on the list of flights when I did a search. I don't mind so much because I'd really rather take an earlier flight, I just don't think it's fair that I might have to pay the difference when it's not MY fault the flight has changed...has this ever happened to anyone?

Airlines change flight times all the time. They should reaccomodate you at no extra charge. Did you call?

Heeey.. I can actually answer this question.
I spent two months as one of the people you'd be calling at Expedia.

YOU PAY NO DIFFERENCE.

A lot of times, you'll receive that message if a flight number changes. Anything that changes, anything at all, Expedia sends out that error message.

Give them a call... tell them you've got a schedule change. They can pull the info up in the airline's computer system.. tell you exactly what changed. If you don't like the new schedule, the Expedia agent can try to find news ones or if it's a big change they'll call the airline and deal with them for you.

I took at least 20 calls like yours daily :)

*Edit* If it's a major schedule change and there aren't any other flights you like, you can ask for a Rule 240 Unacceptable Schedule Change refund.. the Expedia agent would call the airline for you and try to get that processed.
Also, not all Expedia agents know this, but sometimes there are flights that Expedia can't see. So if the agent looks in the Expedia system for you and can't find any, ask them to call the airline. That's almost always how I reaccomdated the customer.

Can you tell this is my first time flying?

I didn't call yet because everyone in the house is sleeping and I didn't want to wake anyone, but I will call as soon as I get home from work tomorrow.

Piecey, thanks so much for your reply. You just helped this first-time flyer calm down a little bit. Hopefully nothing big has changed but if so, like I said I'm interested in an earlier flight. My debit card had a $500 limit so I had to go for the cheaper flight rather than the one I REALLY wanted - this might be my chance!

How much time wise is enough for you to cancel/change your flight?

My AA flight was leaving at 2:46pm SMF and arriving 12:44am MCO and now is leaving 2:29 and arriving 1:15am, not happy about the extra wasted time, but figured it wasn't enough of a difference to try to change it.

Any thoughts?

Jenn

I hope you get a good agent. :)

Any schedule change is a schedule change..

It's up to the airline in that situation. If you get a good enough, happy agent.. They'll change it. If it seems like you've got a sour puss, hang up on them and call back. You just never know.

I had a schedule change that landed me in MCO about 45 minutes later than the original did. Called and got both flights (depart and return) changed from connecting to non-stop.
You could always tell them you had to be somewhere and that half hour is going to make it impossible, as you were already cutting it close. They don't need to know that the destination you HAVE to get to is WDW...

I just spent about 1 hour on the phone with UAL yesterday with the same problem. Just by chance, I checked our flight schedule yesterday morning only to find out that they pushed back our departure time by 1 hour. That meant that we would not get into MCO until 11pm and we wouldn't get to our hotel until at least midnight, and I'm flying with 7 year old twins. This also meant that we'd now have to try to get to O'Hare during rush hour traffic-which would be a nightmare! The first agent I got told me there was nothing he could do, so I asked to speak with his supervisor. His supervisor then looked and told me that there was nothing that he could do because everything was booked. I told him " you mean to tell me that every flight UAL has from ORD to MCO on Nov 2 is completely booked?" He put me on hold again and came back and asked me if a 4:05pm flight landing in MCO at 7:45pm would be better. I said yes and he rebooked us. So be persistant and try using the phrase "this is unacceptable" a lot too! ;)
