Hi Everyone,
I am new to this board, so I apologize if this has been discussed already.
My favorite app to use is My Fitness Pal on my phone and the computer. It's kind of like weight watchers for free mixed with Facebook. You can "friend" people and they can see your progress.
You can log in your calories that you eat and log in your exercise.
It really helps me pay attention to my calories and exercise habits.

Does anyone use this app? My name on the app is DisLauraT. Feel free to find me! :goodvibes

Laura - I use it too and LOVE it!!! I can't believe how bad my "macros" were when I was following WW. Seeing how many grams of protein, carbs and fat I take in each day is really helping me make better food choices. It used to be that if I had points left at the end of the day, I'd eat a 100 calorie snack. Now, I look at whether I need protein or carbs or fats and choose accordingly. A lot of the 100 calorie snacks I chose were high in sugars with little nutritional value. Now, some nights I end up eating a reduced fat cheese wedge or two. Other nights I eat something that has some fat grams, like chili lime flavored almonds. And though I rarely have carbs left (LOL!), if I do, I know I can have pretzels or something along those lines.

My username there is the same as here. Feel free to add me as a friend. There are lots of WISHers over there. :)

I'm on MFP too. My name is liog.

I tried it, but was discouraged when it gave me zero credit for my Power 90 workouts. If it's not cardio, it doesn't count to fitness pal. Well, actually it does in real life, so I didn't feel I was getting honest feedback.

I wanted to encourage you to give MFP another shot. A lot of exercises and workouts are not in the database, but you can create your own exercise. If you have any idea of the estimated calories for your workout, you can put in a new exercise that says Power 90 workout, put in the minutes, and the calories. Then you can choose that next time you need to enter that workout. If you don't know your calorie burn, you can estimate it based on what the database has for the components of that workout, i.e., aerobics, kickboxing, etc.

Same here! Cam is right on with how valuable this website is! I love how it is like Facebook and how supportive my WISH friends are there too. I am cclovesdis there too. Feel free to add me as a friend. I try to respond to posts as frequently as possible.

Good luck!

I haven't been using it lately... It's easier for me when I log in after each meal and not all at once at the end of the day...
I need to get in the habit of using it more.

I haven't figured out how to search and add friends, so please try to find me!

I just sent you a friend request.

By the way, I try to log most of my food in the morning that I eat for breakfast/snacks/lunch and take to work. It really helps me to know how many calories I am using up, and how my macros look, and it really helps me to stick to my healthy eating plan if I actually plan it and log it in. I fear that if I don't log it until after I eat it, it will be too late to do anything about having gone over my allowance. I hope you find a method that works for you.

ETA: Just saw that you accepted my friend request. Thanks! :goodvibes

I had the same problem with Jillian's 30 day shred. I just called it circuit training and used those calories burned.

I find it much better than weight watchers too!

Oh and I'm pakaramom over there too!

Be careful with MFP when calculating your calories burned with exercise. I wear a HRM and MFP always calculates my calorie burn much higher than what I actually burn based on my HRM. Now I'm in good shape, run, spin, etc. and have a resting heart rate of 55 so it takes a lot for me to burn lots of calories, I just don't want you all to overestimate your burn.

I have been doing MFP for the past month or so, and I really like it for keeping me on track with my calories. I will keep the calories from exercise in mind though. I haven't been tracking my exercise much.

I am kelleydea there as well, and I would happy to add you as friends.

I'm also on MFP and do the same thing for the same reason! Anyone here can feel free to add me as a friend - same user name :-)

Ok, I am a total newby on this app/website. I have just started adding information to it and love it so far. My username is the same as it is on here. I don't know how to add yall, so please feel free to add me if you'd like. :)

My fitness pal sounds like a good tool but I can't register. I get to step 2 and then it won't go to step 3. Any ideas?

My dh loved using that app.he lost 140 pounds in 14 months and has kept it off for a year now.He used to tract everything on it and it would drive me a little crazy because he would have the phone out at every meal inputing his numbers and I would need to save any nutritional info from things I was cooking but it really helped him be aware of what he was taking in.Now he doesn't use it anymore because he has learned how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. At the time he wasn't working out so he didn't need to input the exercise info. After losing all the weight he joined a gym and now works out 5 days a week.He recommends it to anyone that asks him how he lost the weight.

I absolutely LOVE MFP! I would love to have new friends to add...

I have quite a bit of weight to lose (well over 100 #'s ).

my user name is fishysgirl
