Hi everyone... okay... here goes... I posted last week that I was going to try a weight/life change and that I would start on Monday, Feb. 2 after the Super Bowl as we had a party and I knew I wasn't going to be good... ;) Well, Monday came and went and I was still downing those sodas, pizza and goodies... BUT, today came and I decided I better get on the "weight wagon... ie, scales) and had put on some more weight  sooo, today is the DAY that I've started my "diet"... so far I've done pretty good... I've only eaten 2 organes thus far... I've had about 24 ounces of water and plan on eating tuna made with a little mayo, mustard, salt, pepper, garlic with lettuce, celery and tomatoe... sounds yummy for some reason, oh yeah, I know why, I'm HUNGRY... LOL... :faint:... I plan on drinking lots more water and I will probably have a steak tonight with some green beans and lots more water... I hope to get out and walk around the block this evening before American Idol comes on... gotta watch that and maybe get to bed a little earlier so I won't keep getting in the refrigerator... I'm trying to stay away from such carbs as flour, sugar, potatoes, soda and pasta... I really need to lose about 100 pounds... if you have any suggestions or low calorie, low carb ideas that you could share, that would be awesome... well, have a happy day and I'll be back tomorrow and let you know if I "cheated" or not...

PS... how do you get those cute little "clippies"...? Thanks everyone for your support... Group Hug... :grouphug:

Welcome to the Journal Board Donna! You will find a lot of support here. I have found this positive attitude to spill over into many aspects of my life. It is a really great side benefit to all this.

The clippees are altogether on the main WISH board as an IMPORTANT mesaage near the top. The instructions are there too.

I have a goal to lose about 35 lbs. I am doing it with WW online. That is what works for me personally. The key here is to find something, a plan, that will work as a way of life for you. Because if it is a *diet*, when the *diet* is over, the weight comes back. So, yes, you have to be a little more stringent to loose weight, but you have to keep the good habits to keep the weight off. Many people here are low-carbing so they can give you some great ideas.

The other two important things are exercise and drink lots of water. Both will improve your overall health immensely. Start out slow and build it up. You CAN do it!::yes::

So welcome aboard! I'm looking forward to checking in on you often!

Hi Donna! Welcome to the wonderful world of WISH journaling. Everyone here is friendly and supportive and that's so important on this weight loss journey.

When I started the South Beach Diet 2 months ago, I had 137 pounds to lose. I am thrilled to have lost 30 pounds even though I still have 107 pounds to go. So I am here right along with you with having a large amount to lose. Have you considered one of the "low" carb programs like South Beach or Atkins since you are cutting carbs anyway? I love South Beach and it seems like it might be a good fit for you. I agree with Sharon completely that you have to find a program you can live with and make a way of life. I think the mistake I have made in the past is to look at a diet as something I did grudgingly and could cast off for any "special" occasion that came along.

I hope you find the program that is right for you. Join us with the cheat free challenge - it's fun to change your number each day. As far as recipes go, I've found some great ones on this board and at lowcarbfriends.com. I've made things like fried fish (in canola oil), parmesan crusted chicken breasts, beef stroganoff, mock french toast, cheesecake, gooey fudge peanut butter no bakes and crustless pizza. This weekend I'm planning on making hot wings and cole slaw. There are so many yummy "low carb" meals that are out there so you can be satisfied and stay on plan. Let me know if you are interested in getting any specific recipe or if you want more details about South Beach and I can try to get it for you.

Welcome again and post often!
