Part four of our anniversary trip to the World, our last day in paradise, sniff-sniff.
For those of you stopping in to read the latest drinking exploits you might as well stop right here. 2 ½ days of marathon drinking has whipped two 40 somethings into a fairly sedate last day at the World.
Our last day starts off later than wed hoped. Ok, maybe later than I hoped. Almost closing down Jellyrolls the previous night will do that to you. Im up somewhat earlier than Laurie and the rooms at POFQ are not very big, so I shower and decide to head out to explore while the princess gets her beauty sleep. I was actually hoping the shower would wake her up, but I knew I was in trouble when I came out of the bathroom and she had two pillows over her head.
I head down to the Sassagoula River to enjoy the morning. Who am I trying to kid? Late-morning. I sit on a bench for a bit just enjoying the warm weather. For those of you from the north, you know what I mean. Its the sun warming your body after a long winter. Sun Good. After a while, even a warm sun gets a little boring, so having never stayed at PO before I decide to explore. I walk down the river to POR. Riverside is quite a bit larger than the French Quarter which makes me glad we chose to stay there. We like the intimate feel of FQ. Riverside has a pool that looks cooler than FQ, but all in all FQ was a good choice. I watch some kids at the Riverside fishing hole and then slowly make my way back to FQ. Ok, its approaching noon so I assume Laurie has to be up. I head to the room and surprise, shes getting out of the shower. Cool, we should be to Epcot before 1:00. We take care of our ritual Weather Channel forecast and discussion of whether Laurie will be warm enough at the park. Today is supposed to be the coolest of the long weekend so Laurie decides to take one of the previous days purchases with us to put in a locker just in case. After I pick myself up off the floor

, out the door we go.
One empty bus ride to Epcot later were again enjoying our favorite park at WDW. Having no real plans for the day other than to just relax and shop for the kids, we meander around the park taking in the sights and sounds. Of course, after a night at Jellyrolls that hangover hunger hits us. We decide to hit the fish and chips stand to see how they smell today. We deliberately eat the fish slower this time and boy do they taste good. Wish Id have done that on day one.
We find a Toronto Maple Leafs hooded sweatshirt in Canada for our DS 17. He lives in hooded sweatshirts and of course, the Maple Leafs rule, so we snag it for him. While were there Laurie spies a neat Roots hooded track jacket, but amazingly passes it by (put this in the memory banks, it comes back into play later). We have a nice conversation with the Canadian CM, which Im sure to tell that my grandmother was from Ontario, which cracks Laurie up as usual. Its almost a game now. I say it just to make her laugh.
And so the day goes. We watch MoRoccan

, who is the only band playing today, eat at Tangerine Café one more time, because its that good, not because were hungry and continue to shop. We have some drinks as the day progresses, but nothing like the previous days. Were not young anymore ya know. As evening approaches I begin to figure out that the sleeveless shirt I wore today was a mistake. Ok, I know what youre thinking. How is a big guy from northern Ohio, who is never cold, not warm in Florida? Well let me tell ya. As the sun started to go down, and the temperature with it, and there not being much humidity in the air, it started to get chilly. Chilly like Lauries shirt in the locker up front aint gonna cut it. I actually suggest we head back to Canada so she can pick up the Roots jacket we saw earlier. What kind of guy is that? Encouraging his wife to buy something

! I help with the laundry and cleaning too (ok, Laurie read this prior to publication and wants everyone to know that she does most of the laundry and cleaning and I just help, which is a change from a few years ago when I worked 12 hour shifts which gave me
lots of time off which I used to do everything around the house which really spoiled her, but she's worth it

). And I do the grocery shopping. And make DS 14 lunches for school each day. And make probably half of our evening meals. Sorry ladies, Im taken

.
On our way to Canada we begin to notice quite a few new cover ups from the different countries walking by. And we giggle. Theres a Germany long sleeve shirt there. Hey, that young lady has been to France. Norway over there. Ha, I guess were not the only ones who misinterpreted the early March Orlando weather forecast this morning. I dont feel so bad now buying a new jacket that we already have 3 of in our room.
The rest of our last evening goes pretty much the same. New shirt country bingo, a few drinks and just soaking in all we can since its still 3 ½ months until we get to return to the World. We decide to head back to POFQ fairly early cause were old and have an early flight in the morning. We watch some TV in our room and snuggle our last night away.
That 5:00 am alarm is way too early, but were down front a few minutes before the Escalade (very nice) arrives to take us to the airport. We make it through the Airtran briar patch of a check in line and then through security in decent time. The Airtran mess makes us appreciate our stays when we fly one of the airlines that you can check in and check your baggage at your Disney resort even more. Thats something to file away for future trips. 30 seconds after the our flight takes off I begin going through my mind how many additional points Id have to buy through DVC to make this an annual trip. Its pretty sad when youre only 2 hours removed from the World with a return trip scheduled in 3 ½ months and youre plotting how you can come back again next year to celebrate our next anniversary.
But all of you who have read this series of day trip reports probably understand the obsession. Where else can you go that puts such a smile on your face each and every time you visit?
Well see you in a couple months when our 9 day trip with the kids (and DS 17s DGF) is complete. Im sure itll be different, as we have to somewhat behave ourselves (we are kind of responsible parents ya know), yet the same. Kind of like Disney. Every time we visit, its different, yet the same. I guess thats what keeps us coming back. And the smiles.
