I am renting DVC points for my April trip (thank you BriarRosie). I will be staying at BCV. How do I check in? I have the reservation number. Is there a special check in desk for the DVC part of the resort?

Thanks for any advice/answers,
Kim

You check in just where everyone else does, just give them your reservation number and they take it from there. It is exactly the same- they treated us just like it was our "home" too.

Have fun!

ETA: Just make sure if you need Magical Express, the person you are renting from has to set that up for you.

You check in at the regular check in desk at the Beach Club. You will need your photo ID and have your credit card if you wish to put one on file. The check in procedure is the same as a regular Disney reservation.

Hi Kim, I heard you call into TentFest!

i just rented for the fourth time. changed from POR to AKV. i consider point renting to be the BIGGEST disney hidden secret. i am paying 870.00 for 8 nites in a studio and would pay over 1600.00 for a regular room at riverside. in fact renting DVC is actually cheaper than buying DVC.

Thanks for the quick answers. I am going to be saving up for my next big trip so I can do DVC rental again.

Thanks, Anna, I could barely hear Matt and the gang. I hope Annette and Matt don't freeze tonight.

I have camped in the snow a few times. Having enough blankets or a sleeping bag that is good in cold weather is the key.

You sounded fine, but the feed was cutting in and out. I hope they don't get too drunk at the Tequila bar. :rotfl:

Have fun on your trip next month. Todd and I are renting points for the first time in October for the Wine and Dine race. It was a bit harder to get a rental because it is the first weekend of Food and Wine plus the race is going on. We will be at OKW. We wanted to be in the Epcot area so we could just walk back after the party is over, but everything was booked up.

It's also the first time I'm renting out my points!
I was thinking about your upcoming trip today, as a matter of fact!

(And for the record, I did tell Kim many months ago that I would need to book Magical Express if she needed it. She didn't!) ;)

The resort did experiment with having a separate check in area a few years ago, but shortly after that, it reverted back to the way it always was. Which was enter the lobby, head right to the check in counter.

Unless you get the Royal Treatment like I did in December.
If a cast member with a clipboard stops you as you're about to enter through the porte cochere door to the lobby, by all means let him/her stop you!

Kim knows my story, but for those who haven't heard it...

I got off the Magical Express bus in December, and I was heading in like I usually do. A cast member with a clipboard seemed to be expecting me. She escorted me personally to the check in area. I mentioned that I did Online Check In prior to my trip, and since no cast member was at that spot behind the counter, she opens the door and walks back there herself to check me in on the spot. I lucked out that there wasn't anyone waiting to check in, but I got a kick out of the "concierge" level of service I got.

Anyway Kim, the reservation is under your name, so you should be able to check in without a problem. However, I will be "on call" if you want me to be available to help in case some weird problem arises. But I don't expect it to.

Have a great trip!!

I love staying at the BW. I bought extra points so I could rent some out. Unfortunately I keep using all my points. :lmao:As of today I have 29 points available to bank next March. :scared1: I told DH the other day we might need to do an add on. Either that or hit up Briar Rose for a few points. Seriously, you will love the BW. You are only a boat ride or walk away from DHS & Epcot. Beaches and Cream is around the corner and the BW staff are great.:thumbsup2 Just remember to bring your own coffee, filters and if you plan on using enogh dishes to run the dishwasher a few times, bring dishwasher stuff. Lastly, I bring the dishwasher thingies that come in a package that melts away. I fill up the hot tub and run the dishwasher stuff through it to clean it out. a tip I got off the boards. :goodvibesPenny

I agree with Dalt01....

Renting DVC is the best kept secret. I am a DVC owner of a small contract 160 points, I book with Disney on some promo for a few days of my trips, and always end up renting at some where for less than POR.

I also got a transfer into my account for 200 points, for cheap 9 $ a point for BC points with ability to bank!

Down side of renting, is you have risk they will cancel the RSVP. I have had all positives with all my rentals, about 4 times now. I would do it again with any other DIS person.

My added opinion, is some how DVC will some how curb this eventually. It is not in Disney's best interest to have me cancel a ressie with them, to spend 1/2 for a nicer room with someone else. Maybe they will stop rental free internet, or dining plan, or take away something from the non-owner occupied rooms. BUT for now, I will take FULLLLLLL advantage!

Kim, You're going to LOVE BCV! I'm jealous, I haven't there in a few years. Do you know about the pathway behind the resort that's a "shortcut" to Epcot? - about a 1 min. shortcut, but it's shady and quiet. :)

As you're walking to the Epcot you'll notice an open gate on the left - it takes you along the Epcot side of BC and BCV - just follow it on your way home and it will bring you to BCV.

Here's a link to a post that contains the map: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=310675&highlight=bcv+shortcut+path

Kim, I echo what the others have said--we just stayed at BCV for the first time last August. My family & I rented points from an IRL friend and it was heavenly! Loved walking to Epcot for am EMH with no rush, no up at 6:30 to wait for bus...aaahh. And on our DHS early day, I actually forgot my phone in our BCV and I was able to leave my family at Toy Story Mania, hop a boat back to BCV, retrieve my phone, hop another boat back to DHS and meet them all in under a half hour. Sooooo stress-free, I am saying "ohm" just thinking about it...

Just be careful, though. We loved it there so much that 5 months later we bid on a TSS resale and a few weeks ago became the lucky, proud new owners of 150 pts at BCV!!!:lovestruc

Have a great trip:goodvibes

PS--BCVdreamer--we didn't find that path, didn't know about it! Can't wait to look for it next time, thanks!:worship:

I love the Epcot path. From the villas themselves, you would leave through the door leading to the Beach Club, but you will immediately follow a path leading left (near the smoking area) and keep following it around the Beach Club until you reach the bridge.

Take a left and you will be at the International Gateway. I take the shortcut to and from Epcot all the time. :)

Thanks for the tip about the short cut. I will keep an eye out for it. The map helps a lot.

Kim

I want to try renting points so bad, but I am just afraid of something going wrong or being taken. Any threads or input on overcoming my fear?
