We are taking my dd13 on a surprise trip for Christmas and to tell her about the trip I am giving her a scrapbook with the first few pages of photos from the last time she was there. She was 7! Anyway, I am very excited, I have the first page done and I wanted to share and get opinions. I am just learning so please don't be afraid to share constructive criticism. Thanks!

I love it! And i am impressed that it's your first page! You should see some of my 1st pages, hahahahahaha... but yours is wonderful and im sure your dd will love it! What a great surprise!!!!!

Very cute! How are you going to tell her? Are you going to do a then and now page. The now page could have to dates and a big question mark. Just an idea! Oh how exciting!!!

I love the idea, and that is before I even looked at your first page. Off to look now.............. :moped:

Lisa - Thanks!

Buffy - Thanks! That is a cute idea.

My thoughts for the other pages I am doing...the 2nd page will have more pics, cause there were just so many cute ones...the 3rd page is where i am going to tell her. I plan on doing the layouts side by side, so page 1 & 2 together (skipping the actual first page in an album) so that she has to flip before she sees the surprise. I was going to put Surprise, we're spending Christmas in Disney or something like that. But I love you idea...maybe I can take a current picture of her (we always do a pic of the family around Christmas time for cards) and a picture of Mickey and make a math equation out of it: Nickie + Mickey = Christmas or something like that. LOL

The funny thing is, she already knows we are going to Florida. She thinks we are going to Ft Lauderdale to spend Christmas with my BF family like we did last year...so we'll be heading towards the airport and she still won't have a clue. I plan on giving her the book in the car or possibly the airport.

We surprised our boys with a trip last April, our little ones had no clue what we were doing, they were along for the ride. We had our DH10 stumped. Our layover was in Atlanta which is where he was born, so he thought we were going there. Then we got lunch before getting on the plane for Orlando and he asked why we weren't leaving and we said we were meeting a friend who happened to work for Delta. DS had no clue until they called our flight number to FL. The little one still didn't know until we got to the Walt Disney World sign.

I just love surprising the kids, it's half the fun. But trying to call for ADR's, that was tough!

I hope she really likes her surprise!

It is definitely hard reading and planning because I am never home alone!! I called for the ADRs from work, so that part was easy. But even when I made that scrapbook page, I had to lock myself in the computer room so she wouldn't walk in. When I am browsing a website and i see her coming, I shut down really fast. We haven't even told our parents what we are planning for fear they will slip. I will probably tell my mom when we are in the airport! LOL

It's going to be great if she is truly surprised. If she finds out, she will not tell us...last year we got her a computer for Christmas and here she already knew because another family member from grandma's house slipped...but she kept it a secret that she knew because she didn't want me to be disappointed. But I could tell she knew when she opened it up and wasn't excited...she had been begging for her own computer for two years.
