My first PTR..May 2011 anyone out there??

Congrats on being paid in full!:cool1: It's is fantastic when you get back more than you expected on taxes, it's like a mini lotto win.

Doesn't it stink that the Poly is so much more? We are renting points at VWL and BCV and I think those are pretty nice places, but I have always dreamed of staying at the Poly. When Disney released the 30% off deal I checked the numbers and even with the discount the Poly would be $1800 more for our 9 night trip. No thanks, $1800 is enough for our plane tickets and dining. I would still love to stay there one day but it will have to be a split stay.

I saw your post over on the budget board since I had posted a question too. Did you decide on any luggage yet? I wish I had seen this post last month when I was searching for luggage. I just bought a cute pink suitcase off overstock. I tend to buy things for cuteness, not quality. I am just hoping my pretty pink suitcase makes it through this one trip and I'll be happy:)

HAHAHA.. He will be if he doesn't get his butt in gear.. He is the guy that always gets rid of something if he gets something new and then complains he doesn't have anything.. So, we will see what happens.. hopefully, he will NOT be naked.. LOL

Yes, 1 more day.. Just in case.. I plan on taking 1 day at Coronado for the pool. and I had 1 day at poly, but that night they have EMH at MK so we are totally going for that!

I am a little jealous of the tidy guy:rotfl: Mine has dropped about 100 lbs and over the course of years + weight loss additions, he has more clothes than he knows what to do with -- literally. they are taking up all my clean laundry baskets...my bedroom is looking like the back entry to good will. :lmao::lmao:

I never thought I would be getting back to the Poly to begin with. This is 28 years in the making. I have been back 11 times since I was 12 and everytime I have had to go back to the Poly. It brings me back to being a child again.. This is my dream trip! For the past 2 years Dh and I have gone through our vows from beginning to end.. " through good times and bad" " in sickness and in health".. and we both just feel lucky in our lives.. We know this is a privledge not a right.. With the unexpected refund I thought I would surprise Dh and DS by either upgrading to the beachclub or to the Poly for our whole stay..Beach club only had water view rooms left and they were $900 more and then Poly was $1300 more.. i just couldn't justify with having already upgraded for the later part of our trip to DDXP.. I could have upgraded to the Boardwalk, which is lovely and beautiful, but I really wanted BC for SAB and Poly for obvious reasons..
I am all about the "cuteness" factor too.. When we had money at least.. HAHA

Our husbands are on opposite sides for sure.. I have 2 closets full.. I love clothes.. and hubby does too, but he always puts himself last.. I don't.. I have learned.. Put yourself first or no one else will..:thumbsup2

Ok.. I may lose some of my readers after I post this.. But.. I did it........................................

I switched the first part of our trip to......................... The Boardwalk Inn..

I know.. I know.. You are probably all like " has she lost her marbles?" Well, I have but thats not the reason for the change..:rotfl2:

I started a thread the other day about what was wrong with me why couldn't I just leave well enough alone?? Well, I think that I finally realize why.. I am substituting all my health stuff for planning this vacation.. It has taken my mind off of all the horrors that I went through and it has given me something to focus my attention on.. First it was the ADR's that I couldn't stop changing until finally I realized if I kept it up I would have no ressies.. So. You would have thought that would have been good.. But.. I wasn't.. then I started thinking about my choice of resorts.. I realized that.. at the beginning when I decided to upgrade, it was between 2 places.. Beach Club and Poly.. Logan chose the Poly for the pool.. even though I have wanted to go back there for 20 years, i still had this ache to go to the beach club.. but it just wasn't feasable. with upgrading to the Poly and then 2 deluxe for the later part of the trip, I just couldn't justify..
Then, the good news came about the taxes.. The bad news was that because it was SO close to the trip, the options were scarse.. Only Club level was available at Beach Club.. So, I started to think about the Boardwalk.. I love that area.. and as I was looking over my itinerary.. I realized that with the exception of the first day of arrival going to MK the rest of the time we are at DHS or Epcot.. and with us checking out on Mother's Day to go to the Poly, how AWESOME would it be to just walk over to Epcot for Rope Drop.. and then have lunch at Le cellier and then, check into the Poly.. A dream come to really.. So, I did it.. No going back now.. what's done is done.. oh yeah, and Dh doesn't know about it.. I am going to try and keep the surprise until we get to Florida.. OMG.. I can't believe it.. I am COO KOO!

You have to do what makes you happy. The Beach Club is a resort we've always wanted to try (after we try the AKL)...sorry it wasn't available. I don't know if you've been following Brook's TR, they have stayed at the BW twice now and love it (I personally can't see us staying there...just don't like that clown :scared1:), but you'll have a great time. Congrats on upgrading.

:banana::banana:A split stay between Boardwalk and Poly sounds awesome. I am so jealous. The Boardwalk looks lovely and I tried to get BWV instead of VWL but it was full for our trip. I think the pool looks like so much fun and it will be great to be near EPCOT and DHS.

Are you switching any of your ADRs? Whenever I change my resort I always end up moving around something. I wonder if we'll be seeing some switching coming up.

I can't even believe it myself I will be honest with you.. i really think that I went overboard, but with everything we have dealt with for the past 4 years or so, I don't care.. I am going to LOVE every minute I am there..
I was iffsy on the Boardwalk.. but, I really went through our first 5 days.. and logistically it just makes sense.. I know I am going to LOVE it.. I can't wait to see how you AK.. my BFF just booked her trip for Aug.. 2 bedroom villa I think..

OH LORD, I hope NOT.. I have had enough of the switching.. it is what it is and I am THRILLED with it.. Also, I am secretly hoping the rehab of the main pool at BW is still going on, because then you get privledges at BC. Also, I could have stayed at BWV's but I DID NOT like the fact that the studio had only 1 queen bed and pull out sofa.. For what you pay, I think 3 people should all have a bed..

Aw man, if you had been at BC then we really would have overlapped! Oh well, hopefully the creepy clown slide will be down and we can see each other at the SAB! Your choices seem fantastic though, if we had more money/time I think I would have liked to resort hop just to try things out!

I am still going to look out for you all.. I have a funny feeling we will run into eachother.. We will be spending alot of time at Epcot, and I plan on trying some slushies and margaritas out.. ;)

:rotfl: Nothing wrong with wanting your trip to be perfect. I would totally be switching my resorts around all the time if I had the extra spending money. :thumbsup2

So.. My mom is going to let us stay at her house the night before we leave.. We live about 45 minutes away from the airport and with our morning flight being at 7:00am we would have to leave our house around 4:30am.. My lives 15-20 minutes away. It makes sense.. We had even toyed with staying at an airport hotel the night before.. But, that goes into my Disney Spending money, and I am NOT having that;)..

I had posted a thread a couple of days ago titled " why isn't it good enough".. About the fact that I can't stop changing my plans. I sort of knew all along that I had replaced focusing on what had happened to me healthwise with planning this trip, but it wasn't until so many WONDERFUL people posted on the thread that I realized it was sort of dare I say " normal" to have gone through something traumatic and then focus your energy on something positive.
In reality I know that "%$it happens" and that I can't control every factor so me trying to plan the perfect trip is really unrealistic..
But, I have to say.. part of my obsessiveness of planning has been half the fun.. and if nothing else it makes for a very crazy story to tell people..
Anyone want to take bets on how long it is going to take for Doug to figure out that I have YET AGAIN, upgraded and we are staying at the Boardwalk? OMG.. I am in so much trouble.. :rotfl:

Thank you Lessa.. I have to say, I have had such a great time being the crazy over planner. When we booked in Nov. I called a friend of mine in DC and asked her to plan the trip for me:scared1:. She's a Disney fanatic too.. and i knew she LOVES to plan trips.. I was So excited to be going but I just didn't have it in me to persue the planning. or so I thought... I have gotten my fill now.. and I guess everyone around me has too.. LOL

So.. You can't take the obsessiveness out of this chick.. ADR's DONE.. Resort choices.. DONE.. Logan's clothes.. DONE.. My clothes.. UMMMMMMMMM.. well that is a whole different story.. OMG.. I am going to have to keep out of the stores until we go.. I have 2 closets filled with clothes and the past couple of weeks I have been slowly but surely adding to my already crowded closet.. Today,, I found SO much stuff at Marshall's that I actually did something that I NEVER do.. I put down a layaway..:scared1:
LORDY.. you all must think that I am a snooty tooty wooty.. I am NOT at all.. I just love clothes.. When I was younger, even though my parents had the money to spend, they NEVER gave my brother and I lots of that asked for, including all the latest things that all our friends were getting.. So, when I was old enough to pay for stuff myself, I just went for it.. Now, that's not to say that I just see something and buy it.. NO NO NO. I am way too cheap for that:rotfl2:.. I am more of the quanity vs. quality thing.. I would rather have 5 new shirts and pants then 1 really expensive outfit..:banana:
It has always seemed, at least since I have been married, that anytime I go away, I buy an entire new wardrobe for the trip. Yup.. just one of my many issues.. :rotfl::rotfl:
I don't know either if I told you all that I had a problem with my camera, yes, the new one I got for my Birthday in Dec.. I am not sure what exactly the problem is but my computer does not recognize it.. thus.. I haven't been able to upload any pictures.. Something I need to look into quick.. I need to find out the problem or else.. another thing to buy before we go..

I am also looking to get some new luggage.. Although, I got the best fares for non-stop to MCO.. (I mean how can you complain about until $600 for 3 people direct flights, early in the morning there and late in the afternoon back home) But.. it's $25 a bag to check in. So, i was think thinking of getting 3 carry-ons and 1 checked bag? I know the carry-ons can only be a certain size, and I am hoping that I can make it work.. I find it ridiculous that I should have to spend $150 to check our luggage..

Anyone that is reading this can you tell me how to 1. attach this trip report to my signature? and 2. put the different pages at the beginning of the PTR so people can go directly to them? You would think I could figure it out.. But NOPE..

my mind has been pre-occupied this past week with the fact that in exactly a week I have to back to the hospital for tests.. I know that I shouldn't be worried about it, but I am.. After my surgery, and when I recovered enough to feel semi-human again, doug and I decided to plan this trip.. At the time, 6 months until I had to have more blood work done and an MRI done seemed SO FAR away..And for some reason, i really thought that my doctor wouldn't be right on the 6 month mark (I mean, whose doctor's are ever on time?).. but, he was.. I had been hoping to just be able to go to Disney believing that I was still fine.. Not that I really think something is wrong. I mean, back at my post- op my doctor told me this was something that was coming down the line but he also said that he was being precautionary and he fully believed that he was NOT going to find anything.. It still doesn't make you believe 100% that you are out of the woods..
So if anyone has any extra prayers to give this week, I would appreciate it!

As I said in my previous post I have been "collecting", umm I mean buying clothes for all of us for our trip.. You would think that last summer we must have been walking around naked:confused3 for the amount of clothes that i have bought. I don't know why, but I LOVE buying new clothes for trips..
Logan has the cutest little things.. But, my first thought of all of us matching has gone out the window.. I know that Logan is not much for wearing characters all the time, so if i spent all our money on that.. i would probably still have to buy him new clothes.. and me.. well.. I haven't been the most practical.. i like cute things, but I should have been buying for practical.. So, please if you are going at the same time as me, please don't let me find a picture of me on here with the title " clothes you don't wear to WDW":rotfl2:
That is all for now.. Gotta get ready to go out for the day.. Guess where we are going???

Nothing wrong with wanting to look nice while at the parks especially because a bazillion photos will be taken and sticking around for years. My rule is cute and comfortable. If I want to wear a skirt then I will wear a skirt even though some may turn up their nose at that. I say, who cares! Just don't wear heels to the park, not because people will judge you but because you will kill your feet!

Good advice Lessa about the heels.. I like to look cute but my feet hurt most days anyway.. So.. I will have sneakers and I am having this lady makes these adorable flip flops for me with bows.. They are just old navy flips but they are really comfortable..

I live in flip flops! I am in search of the perfect pair for this year's trip. The pair I wore last time weren't cushioned enough and killed my feet so I ended up in crocs the whole time. L.L. Bean have a pair that looks promising.

my friends swear by the FIT Flops.. I haven't bought them yet because they are pricy.. but, my friend Amy who ran the Princess half marathon wore nothing but them to the parks even after her run.. So, that says something.. LOL

I don't think there's any trouble planning as long as you know the whole thing can change once you get there! I know what I want to do, but the reality is that we might have a different plan once we get there.

Plus without planning however would one pass the time before the trip!?
