Ok folks I have A big issue. The Computer im using at work to listen to the Podcast on is acting crazy. It's freezing up everday so I have to use the Disk Cleanup mode to get rid of useless junk files which bogs down the Computer UGH!!:badpc: :badpc: Two years ago I lost A PC at home to a lightning strike that fried the motherboard, and A Year before that I lost another PC to A virrus:sad1:. I am going to get A Laptop this spring from my girlfriend's Mother who is giving me her Old Laptop. I hope nothing happends to this Laptop

I can totally understand you, I have a love-hate relationship with computers... Sometimes I can thank that they exist (if they wouldn't the disboards and podcast show wouldn't exist!!) ... but sometimes I just hate them..... Actually I 'm having problems with iTunes... I don't know if it is the computer or iTunes... but I'm just gettin tired of it (this thing deletes ALL my library..and that means also podcast shows..which gets me really mad!)(sorry I had to vent).
So I hope your next computer will survive...anyways nowadays laptops have a life expectation to two-four years.... get a good antivirus and try not too fill the computer with too much information.

Are you stuck using a work computer or can you get your own? If you need work to get it have your I.T. guys check out CDW. I am the Information Systems Coordinator here and our CDW rep has HP desktops for under $300, but it doesn’t include the monitor.

If you can get your own and want a laptop there are plenty of cheap ones out there. Dell. HP, and Acer all have deals. One good thing about this economy is the availability of cheap technology.

haha! I'm constantly complaining about my computer at home. This thing is a real PITA. But it's so out of date. I curse at it constantly. I've been wanting to build a new one (I hate pre-builts with proprietary hardware) for 6 months.

I just might go online and order the pieces today, since I'm home for snow!

I'm not a big laptop fan tho. I don't know the specs, but a give away laptop might not be much better than what you have now. You might be better off just backing up your files and re-installing the OS after you format the HDD (if you haven't already tried that).

This thing I'm working on needs a fresh install of a clean copy.

Ugh, I totally feel your pain. I'm a dedicated Mac user at home, but at work, we're strictly running PC's that were "upgraded" to Microsoft Vista (more like downgraded!). We're also not allowed to download Firefox browser; or any of the newer updates to IE before our IT team checks them out. Needless to say, they're bogged down with Vista problems, and any IE update-checkings have fallen by the wayside.

Try typing out a lengthy TR in both word AND on IE, only to have the entire computer crash, and everything go down the tubes. :scared:
