I just wanted to share my half-marathon story. I know when I was training, I was desperate for any bits of knowledge that might have helped me prepare for my race so hopefully this will help someone out in the future
I know I still haven't finished my other trip report yet but this one will be short and hopefully less wordy. Hopefully being the key word

Training recap
I had started training for this race in Jan 07. I had wanted to do the Disney half-marathon for several years and this year I finally decided to really commit to it and do it. I started out with the C25K program, which was pretty fantastic, but had a few injuries along the way so it took a lot longer than the 9 weeks it was supposed to. After that I did some 5Ks over the summer to get used to the idea of racing as I tried to add on to my weekly mileage.
I also convinced my dad and a family friend, Georgia, to run with me.
DH was the one who actually signed me up for the race because I was too nervous and kept forgetting to do it. The website also had some extras you could buy at the time of registration. DH ordered me a pin also, but neither of us had any idea what the Champion Chip was and it was kinda pricy and we werent big Chip and Dale fans so we passed on that purchase. It would have been nice if they had a photo of it online though. If it was really cute Id probably want it later. But thats what e-bay is for, right?
By the summer, I was running about 45 miles a month, but my longest run was only 6 miles long. I started doing 3 runs a week, 2 of them about 3 miles and the last was my long run, but it never really got that long. In early fall, I finally managed 8 miles a few times but not consistently. As I headed into winter, I started to lose motivation for all of this running. With such dark, cold days I wanted nothing to do with putting on running shoes, even when I was training inside. Every single run became a struggle but I still kept my schedule up the best I could. My goal was to have done a 10 mile long run a few weeks before the marathon, but it never happened. My long runs were all about 6 miles long at that point.
The last few weeks before the marathon, I started to get crazy nervous about it, to the point where it was even keeping me awake some nights. Just thinking too much about the race made me queasy. My goal for the race became to run the first 6 miles like a normal training run, and then to use willpower to gut it out for the last 7+. Maybe not the best plan ..
