OK....... I'm a positive person that loves everything Disney and I swear, you've never heard me complain of any thing before...... but I've got to tell you.... this time I'm disappointed in Disney Photopass. :sad2:

We had a great trip in late January with our (first timers) DS, DDIL and our seven year old DGD and we always buy dated Christmas ornaments to remember the occasion. Thank God we bought one while there this time.

But wanting to surprise our kids, we went to our Photopass account and decided that a dated ornament with our favorite photo of the family would be a great gift for our family and planned on ordering several. But we were surprised to find only 2010 ornaments and not 2011.

So I figured I'd call and be able to get the 2011. Much to my surprise, I was told the 2011 ornaments would not be available until May. By then my Photopass pictures will be expired. :confused3 Come on..... if you can customize the ornament with your photo, WHY can't you customize the date as well?

And in true Disney form...... the guy said..... you can always come back an upload your photo's from your CD in May and get the ornament for 2011. :scared1: So I can spend another $100 for the CD to be able to buy some ornaments that would cost me another $100? Yes.... my DW wanted a lot of them. :guilty:

Has any one else been disappointed by this? popcorn::

I wouldn't have really expected 2011 ornaments yet to be available. You could always pay for the one picture you want (yes it's pricey, but less than the full CD) and then just upload it later.

I am not sure if they only allow photo pass pics for the ornament, but if not you could always use a pic that you took on your personal camera. Hope it all works out for you!

You can upload one of your own pictures and order an ornament through Walgreen's camera dept. I did this a couple of years ago and they came out great!

While there are definitely other ways to get around this...I too think it's silly that Disney waits until May to put out the 2011 ornaments. I suppose it's because the bulk of guests start in the summer months?

I went in January and it was very annoying to have such a limited selection of Photopass borders. I get that - but to have so many 2010 ones out and hardly any 2011 ones out for months on end is not fun for us January visitors.

It made the limited Photopass border selections even more limited.

We had the opposite issue during our December visit with merchandise. Good thing we didn't want any 2010 merchandise to bring home or commemorate our trip as all we could buy was 2011. And we were there 12/11-12/19 - not even Christmas week yet.

I get we were there very close to 2011 - but it was still 2010 and had I wanted logo'd year merchandise, I would have wanted 2010.

We had a similar problem when we went in Dec 2009. I went to edit my pictures, before Jan 1st, and most of the borders were already for 2010. I thought hat there probably were not many people using that one yet!!

I do understand that they may not want to carry 2011 ornaments in the stores yet but to order them online for future Christmas gifts shouldn't be such a problem :confused3

Yeah but Jim.... it was a 2011 memory. In this day and age you'd expect Disney to be able to do that. And yes... one picture might be an option.... but you don't understand my DW wanted several different ones and I hate to see her disappointed.

Thanks.... yes... this is an option. You can download your own photo.

Wow....,thanks Terri.... that's a great idea.

but you can go to the Christmas Tree Shop at MK and they can and will date the ornament there for you.

My point exactly.

I can understand not stocking the dated Christmas ornaments in the shops, but in this age, it seem as that you should be able to put whatever date you'd like on an ornament that you customize on line. Even the full date if you'd like.

Oh well..... I'll have to break my Sweeties heart this evening and tell her the bad news. Thanks for your responses.

I should clarify, my concern was not related to Christmas specific date merchandise but general WDW merchandise (shirts, frames, mugs, etc.). Everything was 2011 by December of 2010, not just holiday/Christmas stuff.

I hope it isn't like that this coming Dec because we always like to take home a dated souvenier and some years (like this one) we are only going to be there in Dec. Oh well, I guess it will save me some money!
