My first 5K is tomorrow!!

Have a great time! Enjoy being around others who believe that being fit and active is important. Say hello to some people, if you stick with walking or running 5K's in your area, you'll be seeing more of them as time goes on.

It will feel great crossing the finish line! Best of luck!

I guess I'm a veteran now :)!

- Lay out all your shoes and clothes the night before.
- If you already have your bib number and your chip, put them on your clothes tonight.
- Don't do anything new or different tomorrow morning.
- Be early, and use the porta-potties first!
- Have fun!!

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

yeah...what Kira said.

Good luck and have fun!

I did it! I'm finally back from DC. I was really nervous, there were so many people. I think I could have found a smaller race to start out with but oh well. My watch said around 38 minutes, but not sure of the official yet. I went really slow, but I ran the whole time. I bet I could finish faster if I took walk breaks, but then I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to start running again.

The best thing was, I ran into an old friend on the metro! It was awesome, we haven't talked in a few years and used to work side by side for years. She has done two marine corp marathons, but had ankle surgery several years ago and does not run as much now. She stayed with me the whole way.

The kids race was not well organized, by 8 year old got trampled in the mud. They widened the course and ran it again because so many kids got knocked down. It was maybe a 1/4 mile course. He was a little upset but I don't think it dampened his spirit too much. He's looking forward to his kids triathlon in the fall. We went to the air and space museum after and now we all are going to just chill out a while.

So now to figure out where to go from here.

Just wanted to wish you congratulations!!!! You should be soooo proud of yourself!!! Now let the addiction begin!!!

Congratulations on your first event!

Sorry about your son and hope that he doesn't feel too badly about trying another event sometime.

Welcome to the madness!

Congratulations!! :goodvibes I was watching for a post from you on the C25K thread, then I found this.

It sounds like you did great! I thought you'd get in under 40 minutes. I know the adrenaline I felt at my 5K made it easier for me to go faster without even realizing it.

I'm sorry about your son! :(

That's neat about your friend, how nice that she stayed with you.

Where to go from here...good luck deciding! Maybe a 10K?? :)
