I rode the new Finding Nemo ride twice on Sunday during the DVC preview. I took a few pictures, so I wanted to share them. They didn't turn out so well though.
The entrance to the ride:
There was no line either time we rode, but from the looks of the queue (sp?) area it looks as if Disney is anticipating long lines. You start out waiting in a line that looks like you are at the beach:
There are sand dunes and grass and it looks like a boardwalk to a beach.
You then continue into what I thought of as an "underwater" room. This room is very large and dark and there are projections on the floor that make it look like moving water.
Then, you step onto a moving walkway (like on Peter Pan's flight, Haunted Mansion, TTA, etc) to board a clamobile. The clamobile reminded me of a doom buggy.
The story starts out on this screen as you travel under water.
During the ride you basically live out the Finding Nemo story with all the characters. You pass through the jellyfish, deal with Dory, and the sharks and even ride on the East Australian Current.
Jellyfish:
Sunken boat:
Then, at the end there is a very cute song about the big blue world and you pass by the real fish tanks. Images of Nemo and the others are projected onto the tank so it looks like they're all swimming in the tank together. Unfortunately my pictures of the tank didn't show up at all but it was very cute and a neat effect.
Perhaps my favorite part of this ride was riding the EAC with Crush, his son, and Nemo. I don't know exactly how they did it, but there were lots of bubbles and movement and you really felt like you were with all the fish and sea creatures moving along the EAC. Very neat!
I definitely think this was a wonderful addition to Epcot. My only complaint was that the ride is very short. I now think the Living Seas is so much better than it used to be. We used to often skip Future World altogether because we could never find anything to do. Now with The Living Seas, Soarin', Test Track, etc. I think Future World is definitely back in our plans! This was definitely one of the cute, heartwarming Disney rides that both little kids and adults can enjoy!
