so happy for you that you were able to get GVC. that must be such a huge relief.

we have looked at DVC but we just can't afford it right now and we don't know how much use we'll get out of it in the coming years... so nice to see that it has worked out for you though :)

i'm sure you'll have an awesome trip in feb!!!

dont forget you can rent DVC points from other owners..

our 7 nights are 129 points..you can buy them for about $13 a point so thats $1677 for 7 nights ($240 per nightincluding taxes) at Grand californian villas.....pretty good value:thumbsup2
we are going in value season.......:cloud9:

my extra night is 22 points, as its a Friday and they are more points.

if you want any more info..just ask, i'm also learning as we gopirate:

Omg that is an awesome saving... I am seriously thinking of renting dvc points for our trip next year at both dlr and wdw ... Seems i need to educate myself on this ... We would love to look at POFQ or BLT but they are out of our price range for retail rates... Interesting idea

i would recommend doing BLT rather than non DVC resorts, the points for those are crazy per night.

so best ones for the parks....
MK-BLT (we own there:banana:)
Epcot- Boardwalk or beach club
DTD- Saratoga springs
Ak-AK lodge
Hollywood studios- Boardwalk or beach club

Other locations
DLR-Grand Californian villas
Vero beach
Hilton head
Aulani @ Hawaii

The good thing about renting is you get points from owners who own at those particular resorts, meaning you can book 11 months in advance compared to those non-resort owners who have to wait 7 months to book.

we may rent our points in a few years if we decide not to travel that year..or the family aren't using them.

Now including this DLR trip......our DVC stays so far if we paid for them cash would be worth over 20K. makes great financial sense to us at the moment, but in the future we may give them to the kids when we get too old to travel:eek:

staying at dvc in a studio you have a kitchenette, large room with sofa, free laundry, etc etc.....we couldn't go back to surviving in a normal hotel room when at Disney now.And you can get disney dining if you want to do that, although they dont have free dining at any DVC resort. keeps our annual members fees down.

try it, you'll love it, and its never too late to book.

trip budget so far

airfare $2300:thumbsup2
accom 8 nights GCV -DVC points $0:hug:
tickets $500
food $700
extras $1000
universal $250

$4750 ish all up........BARGAIN!!!!:love::love::love:

Sorry if this is a dumb question Karen but, if you own at BLT, why are you not staying there the whole time while you are at WDW? The reason I ask is that I see you are also staying at POP :confused3

sorted!

i can sleep well now:thumbsup2

Yay for you!!! Congratulations!

We rented via DVC at DLR and we loved it! We stayed at a 2 bedroom unit at the GCV. Awesome! Would love to do it at WDW for our trip next year as well, however, if free dining came up, it might be cheaper to book with Disney as there are 5 of us. Need to do some number crunching. We have until early Jan 2013 to finish our maths! Lol...never too early to start planning
