My favorite thing about my resort is...

When you're planning your next trip to WDW, what's your favorite thing about your favorite resort? What is is about the resort that just transports you there and makes you just burst with excitement? We all know that the magic is in the details at Disney, so what does it for you?

My favorite hotel is definitely the AKL. The smell of smoked meats and exotic spices when you walk into the lobby is just so wonderful every time. I can just think of that amazing warmth and I am instantly transported to the AKL with a smile on my face. It's the best way to get through a tough day!

For me, it's Pop Century and when I first arrive after I check in, I like to just walk the lobby and look at the shadow boxes of the different decades. It brings me back to a time when life was simplier and care free. After that it's sitting by the pool and listening to the great music of the 50s, 60s 70s and 90s they have playing throughout the day.

for me, the GF. when you walk thought the doors into the lobby, it has this wonderful smell...and all teh fresh flowers and everyone welcoming you, and then to ehar the piano and orchestra play at night as you sit in the lobby and people watch and watching wishes from gasparillas or from my room

I like GF and POFQ both the same I cant pick. For GF it would be how hard they try to accomodate you and make your trip very magical. For POFQ it would be how relaxing it is and no resort can beat how relaxing the POFQ (IMO)

it's really hard to explain what it is about Port Orleans Riverside that immerses me. I guess it's after you've checked-in in the riverboat themed room and found the hidden mickeys, then walked over the beautiful hard wood floors out to the back of the building, and walk through the doors and over the stone walkway to the view of the river surounded by trees and that bridge off to the left and the mansions to the right.

That's when I know I have arrived at Disneyworld.

It would be the same thing at French Quarter (my other favorite resort). You walk out the back of the "solarium", down the lane, past the aligators, and you reach the jester and realise that you are in a very quiet, clean city with streets and courtyards and the river in the back. AAAHHHH. 11 more days and I'll be there.

Polynesian Resort is my favorite. The atmosphere is so very relaxing to me. I love to just sit on the beach and enjoy the water while watching the fireworks. It really is heaven to me.

We love the Beach Club! Walking into the lobby, being greeted by Art the Greeter, checking in and heading right to Storm Along Bay for our first day at the World....nothing is better!!

I love the music they play along the walkways at the YC/BC it's so relaxing! Then you hear the horns of the Friendships on the lake, and the screams of the kids from SAB, and there is no other place you could be but WDW!

The first time I walked into the Poly. I took a deep breath and told my mother and kids...I don't think we'll be staying anywhere else again. Of course we've tried the GF and BW (adult only and it was the only availablility when we wanted to go) but the whole time we kept saying.."we should have stayed at the Poly"

For me, you get whisked away to a tropical paradise, but when you look out over the lagoon you see Cinderella's Castle. That's when I realize that I'm at Disney World.

It is really hard to choose for me. Really hard. Of all the resorts main buildings I love the AKL. It just gives me such a sense of wonder. I never tire of walking in and experiencing the hugeness and endlessness of the lobby with all the dark logs. But the BC entrances me with the walk along the beach. I feel so peaceful there. And I love POR with its langorous paths through the deep south. I think it is one of the prettiest and most serene resorts of all. I fell in love with WDW there and it will always have a special place in my heart.

Most of all though i love the POLY - just walking into the resort with all the incredible landscaping into the green green lobby full of vines and tropical plants is so magical. Watching Wishes from my balcony. Standing on the beach with loads of people and little kids playing in the sand while the music of wishes plays and the incredible fireworks awe me. Poly is amazing. POLY is my most magical place.

I also love the smells at AKL but it's funny that you should ask this particular question at this time. I always tried to put my finger on exactly what takes me back.....is it the balconies, the hardwood floors......then the other day I was watching some videos on another website and I saw one titled "Transportation". It was a montage of buses, boats, monorails, etc. Then in the middle of the video I saw one of the Friendship boats going across Crescent Lake and heard the sound of the horn and realized in one instance I was transported back to a "vacation feeling". I never realized before that the boat horns are "what takes me back."!!!

My favorite resort is BCV. And my favorite thing:

It's followed by many other things, but especially squishing my toes in the sandy bottom of SAB.

My favorite resort is the BWI. I love pulling into the parking lot and walking up the driveway looking out towards MGM and seeing tower of terror. In the water under the bridge, the ducks swimming. Going out the back door leading out to the Boardwalk and knowing you are home.

It's the beignets. Wait, no it's the MK bus stop for POFQ that has me going back. POFQ, is quiet and relaxing. But if MK screams WDW to me then having it's own bus stop is tops in my book.

Mine is also the Animal Kingdom. I agree - those awesome smells! My husband laughed when I read your original post because it sounds just like me! That and the looks on my kids faces when we entered the lobby.

A place and experience that I will NEVER forget!

My favorite WDW resort is the Wilderness Lodge. I just love the overall comfort and feel to the resort. Plus the cast members there are really nice and inviting. Can't wait to go back next July!

My favorite is Wilderness Lodge because it's comfortably magnificent! That lobby is truly magnificent, as are the lake views. But it's also incredibly comfortable. And for someone like me who loves wood, the interiors and furnishings are soothing and welcoming. I know a lot of folks find it to be too dark, but I love it!

And then there the geyser, the boats, the easy access to the monorail resorts, and the feeling of being a million miles away while still being incredibly close to all the action!

Wilderness Lodge is perfect for me...and, thankfully, for DW as well.
