After a 13 month long battle with cancer my father in law passed away on Saturday. We had gone on vacation, at his insistance, and since our return home he had declined quickly. We got him into a hospice house on Wednesday and that is where he passed.
We can't complain because when he was first diagnosed in July of '02 we had him on a respirator for 2 weeks. After making the heart-wrenching decision to remove the tube we were told we only had hours left. Well, he walked out of there and we got to have him for another year. God was gracious to us! Not only did we have the extra time to enjoy his being, but it also gave us time to prepare, which has made this somewhat easier. My son will be able to come home for a couple of days from the army, so it will be nice to have him with us during this time. He and his grandfather were very close.
His service is this weekend and that is where I need some help. My father in law just loved pink peonies. I would love to be able to put them on his grave after the burial. I have called many florists, but have had no luck. I am appealing to my fellow dissers to make some calls on my behalf if you would. I figure somewhere out there there must be some late bloomers. I think my best bets are in the cooler regions, Canada or even the U.K.
I will pay whatever price to have them. So if you wouldn't mind could some of you check. I would greatly appreciate it. If you find some, just let me know and I will then make the arrangements. I can't thank you enough.
On a side note, I would like to thank everyone for the wonderful goodies I got in the exchanges and I apologize to everyone who has gotten mine late.
Thank you all again so much!
Cathy
