Hi All ~ My famiy of four can manage almost two weeks off after Cmas. I suggested we drive from Toronto to WDW on Boxing Day....THEY DO NOT WANT TO GO!!!!!?????!!!!! We went in March and they think it's too soon to return. How can I convince them to return to Florida? Thanks! Sandra

Ask them the best place to send their postcards, since you'll be taking separate holidays.

You take your best friend instead, and have a REAL vacation !!!

lol...I like that. :thumbsup2

Sandra - how about starting off by telling them that it will be a whole new celebration in December (Year of a Million Dreams) whereas they were there for the Happiest Celebration on Earth.

Who knows - they could be chosen for one of the 10's of thousand of dreams that Disney will be giving away each and every day! From free resort upgrades - to golden fastpasses - to being chosen as the Grand Marshal - to being awarded Disney vacations for life - to being given the opportunity to 'pay it forward' by selecting a family back home to award a trip to Walt Disney World to.

Then I would tell them how they weren't able to see Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Barbossa or Davy Jones back in March, but will be able to do so in December. Then I would ask them if they liked Wishes and if they answer 'yes', I would explain that Dreams (the firework show replacing Wishes as of October 1st) will be much, much better!

I would also explain that they can now see a new musical starring Nemo and even encounter a REAL Yeti at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

And if they liked the musical, then why not head on over to Epcot to board a "clam-mobile" to join Nemo's friends to search one of the world's largest saltwater aquariums for the playful clownfish in a stunning display of new entertainment technology inspired by Finding Nemo. While at Epcot, those who couldn't handle Mission:Space in March, can opt to ride with the 'green team' for a less intense galactic adventure this time around.

Last (but by no means not least) would be the opportunity to see Walt Disney World at Christmas time. The decorations are something that every Disney fan should see at least once in their lifetime. :)

Hope that helps! :goodvibes

Suggest that you fly instead!

Maybe they don't want that looooong drive there and that looooooong drive back!

But who would buy them?? :rotfl2:

Sandra - I would ask them why they don't want to go back. (I personally couldn't conceive of any reason not to go back) but there might be a really simple reason that's easily solveable. They might not want to drive or they might not have liked where you stayed or where you ate -- all easily changeable.

Good luck.

:crazy2: how can they NOT want to go!! id live in disney if i could!! just ask them why they dont want to go!! if they dont budge at all go with some friends!! but good luck trying to convince them!! :)

They don't want to drive all the way to WDW. I want to drive just for the experience. I assume I75 is best in Dec/Jan? DD is starting to come around since all her friends think she's nuts for not wanting to go again. I think DS will go with the flow. DH hasn't ruled it out. Crossing my fingers! S

Sandra - I75 is best during the winter and there's a great book that covers it -- Dave Hunter's Along the I75. He gives all the restaurants, hotels and gas at every exit from Detroit to the Florida border. It's amazing. He also includes lots of interesting tidbits about the areas you're driving through.

Good luck.

Sandra why don't you go out and buy Dave Hunter's book and show it to your family? We haven't driven in a few years now but I always had that book open on my lap when we did, it made the drive seem to go quicker. His latest isssue is usually out in October, I believe.

As Fiona said, it has so much information of places of interest along the journey and I actually learned things I never knew. You might see something that catches your eye, that you'll want to investigate further. For instance one early morning we stopped at the Kentucky Horse Park. I wanted to see the statue and new grave site of Man O'War. I first saw the statue back when I was in grade 9! That was a "moment" for me!

Sandra - We also take I-75 when we drive, and the Dave Hunter book is the best! My kids (now 13 and 10) actually look forward to the drive (more the drive down than the one back, to be honest). Every time you stop the air's a little warmer (you can track it if you have an external thermometer on your car) and the book tells you where you'll spot your very first palm tree. We plan our stops based on gas station type DH wants, type of food, etc. We let the kids watch a few DVD's on the way down, and sometimes they'll use the headphones and DH and I will listen to music or a talking book.

We also play the game "Are We There Yet?" (available through CAA, I think) and it has lots of cards that you try to match with things outside. We play it in a cooperative (not competetive) way to see if the whole family can find everything on the cards (maybe 300 of them?) like "pieces of tire on the side of the road" or "two animals of different colours in a field" or "a vehicle of the same type and colour as the one you're driving".

I hope you can convince them!

Take Me !!!!!!!!!!! I Will Go !!!!!!!!!!!!iiiiiii Wwaanntttt Ttttoooo Gggggggooooooooooo
