Thanks for the comments and congratulations
At that point, we finally had to get something to eat. We were on our way to downtown Disney when my phone rang. It was my father. You wont believe this one. My dad had booked at Shades of Green as hes former military. He gave his id number etc. when he booked the room. When he arrived at the front desk of the hotel, they asked him for a copy of his discharge papers (he was not a lifer). Well when he made the reservations he says no one had told him that this paperwork was required for check in. He thought his number was enough. They wouldnt allow him to check in. They actually wouldnt allow them to stay without the paper and of course my father had no one at home to fax it over or send it as he explained to them My daughter is getting married here this weekend and my entire family is already here. They were not sympathetic and as its not Disney there was nothing to do but to leave. I couldnt believe it. He was calling me from the Grand Floridian he had gone there to ask for help. So then they found them a room at Coronado Springs. None of our guests are there, but at least they have a room and it was one problem I didnt have to personally solve.
We finally got to Downtown Disney to eat and went to Wolfgang Puck Express. I had the thai noodle salad and fiance had a chicken Caesar sandwich that he really likes. We sat outside and tried to decompress from all the hassles. We ate and then headed over to All Stars to say hello to fiances grandparents and his other family members. That was quick then we hung out with my sil and her boyfriend for a bit. My stomach started to get upset so we headed back to AKL to relax.
Here's the view from our room at AKL:
After resting for a while we left for dinner which was at Spoodles at 7:20 with both of our families. Kind of a meet and greet. I wanted to skip it but figured that might not go over so well LOL. So we got there and my parents were already waiting. We said hello and hugged them and rehashed the story about Shades of Green. It was particularly ironic because my father had started off as so anti-disney and in the end it was Disney that saved his butt and got him a room. LOL. Everyone else arrived and my sister seemed in a better mood. I knew she was sick and probably tired from traveling earlier but I was still a bit stung about the whole thing of all the efforts we made and their attitude when they arrived. We all ordered and tried to get the food for my two young nephews right away but all the food took a while and what can you do. It was good though. My one nephew almost fell face first asleep in his dinner and they were both nearly passed out by the time the adults got their entrees. My sister and bil ate pretty fast and then had to excuse themselves to get the kids to bed. Meanwhile fiances grandparents came by and his moms friend.
I wanted to get back to AKL but fiance really wanted to play mini golf at the Fantasia course so I said ok and we went with his sister and her boyfriend. It was soooo much fun I was glad that I went. Fiances sister is staying at the Swan and we so we hung out there with them a little bit then headed back to AKL. When we arrived I had a message
from room service! Apparently for the second night in a row we had a surprise from the wonderful manager and they asked us to call for it when we returned. They brought us up a wonderful tray of cheese and crackers and some fruit.
We were so blown away by yet another wonderful gesture. We called and left her a voicemail with our many thanks and asked for her contact information as we obviously want to send her a thank you card (and probably a gift although I didnt tell her that). Its amazing how one person going that extra mile for you can make such a difference in your experience. We ate the cheese and crackers and watch the weather channel, which was still predicting scattered showers for Sunday
