I have been pricing out an August trip for my family of five at the Beach Club. We were fortunate enough to receive a 40% off pin code in an e-mail a while back. It expires this month so we have to make a decision. Anyway, I've been wondering which is truly the better deal. Generally, people say the 4/3 deal is the best. When I called Disney yesterday, the man I spoke to was adamant that the 4/3 deal offered savings that couldn't be touched with the 40% code.

However, in running the numbers I discovered that the 40% code actually saved us about $134.00. This is with buying our own tickets through the Mousesavers link for undercover tourist. We wanted PH+WP options. Not a huge savings but that could be a meal for us and the room only cancellation policy is better than a package in case something comes up.

Just wanted to share my experience and remind people to check all their options. Don't rely on what Disney tells you. The guy I spoke to was super nice and told me I know so much about this stuff that I should work for Disney. Too funny! :)

Which is better really depends on the amount of days you are going.

As WDWBlaze said.....it depends on how many nights your going....but it also depends on which resort you stay at. The deluxe resorts seem to have the biggest savings with the 4/3 deal. We are booked at the GF in July....which is coming out to about 43% off the room rate. But I agree.....it's best to always price different deals before booking :goodvibes.

We were pricing deluxe resorts. The difference seemed to come from the park tickets since we wanted more than the base tickets that are offered with the deal. If you want to park hop and visit the water parks you have to add on about 500.00 to the package, 250.00 for each option. That's where buying the tickets from Undercover Tourist saved us money. They were cheaper than Disney, especially since there's 5 of us. Everyone's needs are different so it's good to price the different deals to make sure what's best for your situation.

Just make sure that you have the total for the room-only stay. Sometimes they tell you the total with the tax, sometimes not.

I can see that it would be really close. The 4/3 is about a 42% discount, really close to the 40%. But the 40% gives you more options, like saving $$ on your tickets like you are doing or doing a split-stay between two resorts.

Have a great trip!:)

Thanks. I did make sure tax was included in the room only quote. He was actually very helpful and helped me compare the exact same vacation with different deals.
He also hinted that they might extend the 4/3 deal if the economy doesn't improve. I know that would be great for a lot of people!

Can I ask what ages are your kids and what your total was w/ room and tix? I also have a pin code and we're five and you did what we normally do which is to get a room only and our tix from Undercover. Are you going for 7 nights also?

I too had that question. I booked a standard room at the WL for six nights starting . August 23rd. Because my DD was starting school earlier than I thought and the 4/3 deal was extended into August I re-booked the 4/3 deal for the WL with a woodsview room (no standard available for the 4/3) for 7 nights with 7 day base passes. When I ran the numbers with all things being equal the 4/3 saved a little money. I guess the answer is that it does depend. :yay:

My kids are 16,14,and 9. The trip was for 7 days 8/25-9/1. With tax at the Beach Club for a pool/water view it was 1937.25 total for the room with the 40% code. The tickets were 1543.75 for 5 day PH+WP. The 7 day tickets were 1586.75. We could do the 5 day since we would be spending 2 days at WP's anyway. Those ticket prices included tax.
So the total would be 3,481.00 for 7 days at the Beach Club, water view with 5 day PH+WP.
If you want 7 day tickets just add 43.00 to the total to make it 3,524.00 for the week.
We've always done a room only code and tickets through Undercover Tourist for our past trips. For us, it's always been cheaper than any package but the 4/3 deal seemed so good I was curious.

I was also trying to figure out something similar for our family but with the 4/3 deal don't you also have to purchase tickets? We already have enough tickets left from our last trip so am I correct to assume that the 40% pin would work better if we only want the room?
want the room

The 4/3 deal comes with 7 day base tickets. You're paying for 4 days and getting 3 free. However, the way Disney prices their tickets the expense is on the first 4 days. The real savings in the 4/3 deal is with the room. If you don't need tickets I think the 40% code would be better for you. Always check the numbers for yourself though because where you stay, how many people, nights etc. can effect the savings differently.
Good Luck!
