Because I depended so much on information from this board before my trip - I thought I'd report back.

This was my first time to use Murray hill, used Happy Limo for our other flight last year.

All e-mail correspondence was handled just fine while making our reservation. I had five passengers, so John said he'd have a van - I printed the confirmation showing a roundtrip of 85.00. I had requested a grocery stop - and told him since it was Thanksgiving day, I'd be happy with a Walgreen's or something for cokes, bread, ham, etc.

After arrival at MCO, a gentleman met us at luggage pickup holding a sign with our name on it. Pre-printed on the sign said "Murray Hill Transportation". I knew this was for us! Our driver helped us with our luggage and we crossed the small street to where his van was parked. His van had another companies name on it - and a website different than Murray Hill's. I was concerned and just stood outside looking at the van. But his sign had our name on it! How could that be? I didn't want to appear too unsure - (but I really was) - so I asked him round about if he was subbed out by John (like a subcontractor). He assured me he worked with him.

When i mentioned about the grocery stop he acted like nothing would be open. He took me to Goodings( which I already knew was closed for the day). I suggested a 7-11 that was across the street. For the few things we needed, the prices weren't that bad (and probably competitive with Goodings!)

We arrived safely and quickly at the hotel. He was tipped and ran a credit card through for my charge. He said, "It was 95.00, right?" I brought out my confirmation page, showed it to him and offered it to him in case he needed it - but he said that wasn't necessary. He honored the 85.00 rate. The charge came through on my credit card statement with a name different than Murray Hill.

The same driver was there to pick us up for the return trip home. He was a little early - as we were just returning from the parks. I approached him, just to let him know that we would be gathering our things and be with him shortly. He said that was fine, he realized he was about 30 min early.

Overall, the transportation was everything I needed. The van was clean, the driver drove safely, we had our brief grocery stop, and we arrived! I didn't contact John regarding the change in provider. Maybe he didn't have a van available, or all his drivers were busy. However, if I would've really been set on using Murray Hill, I may have been disappointed.

I could be wrong, but I believe that most of the drivers for transportation companies are contracted. It is entirely possible that they drive for more than one company.

Kaguilbeau - I would almost be inclined to call Murray Hill and check that they have a driver named John and that everything was legit. We recently returned from our trip and used Murray Hill and when we were greeted by our driver, Tony, he had a sign with our name on it, just as Maria, the person who confirmed our internet reservation, indicated. Our van had the Murray Hill logo on the side as well. Just for reassurance, I'd check into it. I've heard that Happy Limo has this problem, with other drivers standing at baggage claim with Happy Limo on their sign. Better to be safe than sorry, especially if they were not legit and the fact that they swiped your credit card through a machine. With Murray Hill being such a great service, I would definately want to hear my customers complaints or confirmations of situations so that I know if there is a problem that exists that needs reported to the Better Business Bureau.

Check it out!

Isn't it funny that the mistake was $10 more instead of less? ;)

I would have felt uneasy about this situation too. Thanks for the report.

We also used Murray Hill Transportation service for our trip a couple weeks ago. When we were greeted at the baggage claim the man had a sign with my name on it (actually my first name was incorrect). I was expecting a towncar and when he pulled up he was in a white 15 pass van that I believed said orlando transportation. I am not sure if he didn't speak English or what because he barely said anything to us. The grocery stop was only 20 min instead of 30 min. And we didn't get our picture taken at the entrance like the website said. The carseat I requested was installed incorrectly and I couldn't figure out how to adjust the straps. I was really expecting better service then we received. John and Marie were always so good about promptly responding to my emails and I had heard such good things about this company. Now the service wasn't horrible, he did get us to our destinations on time and safely, but it wasn't the experience I thought it would be!

This description sounds alot like the man that picked us up. As I said, the end result got us to our resort and back to catch the plane - and the van was clean - so I really have no complaints about the service we received. I did e-mail John today stating that the service was fine - but also mentioning my concern about our driver and van.

Will post back with what he says.

I also emailed John and he has not responded to my email (which he had responded so promptly to all my other emails before the trip). I think I sent him the email last Thurs. so I am really not anticipating hearing back from him at this point...kind of disappointing!

Here is the response to my e-mail I sent John. I had mentioned the good quality of service and the cleanliness of van, but also questioned why the van wasn't his - and was I being the victim of some type of scam.

I think all is well and good - I just wish, somehow, I could have been pre-warned that the use of a contracted provided would have been a possibility.

Hello Kim,

When we get overwhelmed or runs conflict
we use independent drivers who previously
worked with us and started their own
companies, or we have screened
and meet or standards.

The driver you had that day has worked with
us for over 7 years now and we find him very
dependable and customer friendly.

I appreciate you taking the time to let us know
of your concerns and that you found him to be
friendly and his van was clean. We need this
feed back from customers like you to insure
the drivers we send out are doing their jobs

Thank you,

John
