Did DVC do layoffs? I have had two guides (long story) and I've heard from both of them in the last week or so about the VDH. Today, I got a phone call from my new guide saying that both of my guides are no longer with DVC. Seems weird. Was wondering if anyone else experienced this.

Are your guides Cali or Florida based?

My guides were both Florida based. My new guide is CA based but I'm sure that's probably because I'm on the west coast. Just so sad that they are both gone.

I’ve gotten a couple of Lake Buena Vista phone calls & finally a VM from a guide introducing himself as my new guide - he said something about my former guide not being licensed in CA. I also got an email from him. I too am on the west coast but I’m not buying VDH, so I won’t waste his time calling him back.
Direct sales numbers have been very low, so laying off guides or guides leaving for greener pastures wouldn’t surprise me.

I started getting emails a little over a year ago from someone new and discovered that my guide was no longer with Disney. I was really bummed because I’d been with them about 12 years. They started out in FL and then moved to CA at some point.

Ok - get this. I just got an email from one of my "old" guides who is currently on a DCL ship for DVC and reached out to me about VDH. So he is still with DVC. Something is fishy with the guy who called me yesterday. I replied back to my guide and hope to connect with him soon. Won't be taking calls from the new guy anytime soon.

My guide, who has been with them for awhile is gone. Summer was her name.

Disney did a lot of layoffs. Not sure if DVC was impacted.
DH said yesterday that there have been recent Guide layoffs according to one of the vloggers he watches regularly.

He's hoping ours was one of them. I'm hoping not because I think she's done well for us. DH preferred our original Guide who left during the shutdown.

Did DVC do layoffs?
No, DVC has not laid off any of the guides. In fact they are looking to hire some since a few have left for personal reasons such as retirement or moving away. I'm good friends with a guide (not the one for my account) and we "chat" frequently.

Over the past 20+ years I've been assigned more than a dozen "guides". I've only met 2 in person, one when we purchased our first in 2000 and then in 2016 we accompanied some friends when they did a tour and guide turned out to our then guide.

Been DVC since 2002. In the beginning we would get a voicemail on our phone when we arrived at WDW or DL, a welcome home message from TM. Never really received any emails from him. But haven't received any welcome home messages in nearly 10 years, probably more.

Been DVC since 1995, never had a "guide"--why would you need one?
If you want to make a direct purchase, the salesperson is called a "guide."

If you never want to make a direct purchase, then you won't need one.

My guide has disappeared as well… I really liked her and am in the market for some direct points…. I’m surprised Disney wouldn’t have handled this better through auto-replies or re-directs. I do wonder if she is just totally gone…. I hope not, as I really don’t want to find a new guide. She was so gracious and generous with her time during the initial tour. I haven’t heard anything for the past two or three weeks….

Is there a way to make a purchase without a guide? Should I call a main line number to reach her in another way?

You can call the main number and ask for her. They’ll tell you If she’s temporarily unavailable or if you need a new guide.

We were at Boulder Ridge last year and wanted to look at one of the cabins so we went down to the DVC desk and asked for a tour. The CM asked who our guide was and he informed us she retired years ago and we should have gotten a new guide. I still don't think we have a new guide yet.

A couple weeks ago I got a phone call from Rob Gleason. He introduced himself as my "new" guide. I bought resale last summer and never knew that I had an "old" guide.

Oh well. Long story short, I bought direct from him last week. AKL for $143 a point after incentives and Magical Beginnings.

It's possible that those who haven't heard from their guides have their privacy settings set to do not email / do not call...
