My DVC guide is a disaster, any guide recommendations?

Yeah my original guide told me they couldn't sell me direct points from other "not on sale" resorts at first. After learning otherwise from somewhere else, I pressed him on it and he found out he could. They definitely aren't full-on experts, but they try, at least in my experience. I've been happy with both of mine.

This sounds more like we are pushed to sell the new resorts and if all else fails then they will sell you older resorts. Which I'm pretty positive the Guides with smaller client base and newer Guides are instructed to def do this lol.

OK....after reading all these comments I decided to stay the course and see what she could do. While I had concerns about misinformation, she was always available and followed-up. We just signed the paperwork for 125 points at CCV split into 2 contracts: 1 contract with Week#49 Walk In Shower Studio guaranteed (paid for 107 points), and a second contract for 18 points to complete the 125 and score a Blue Card. BTW I did not pay a premium in points for the GW...that was interesting but won't complain. Think if I have to sell down the road....a December Guaranteed week and an 18 point separate contract are two that should be desirable in resale. Now waiting on my 300 BWV Resale to pass ROFR! Thank you ALL for your guidance and advice. I think I ended in a much better place than the direction I was headed (125 points direct on BRV).

Wait, what? That week should have been 118 points at CCV. I guess you'll see if Quality Control catches the error.

I think it would be unlikely that the closing costs for the 18 point contract would be worth it. Just my opinion, but few would want just an18 point contract. The Guaranteed Week contract should go well in resale.

Yeah good point....maybe I should have bought 25 points. Closing cost to point ratio was definitely high.

Not a massive difference. But if someone just wants enough points for 1 night 18 points would get you that in a studio. But addonitis can kick in even before you finish closing so u may start at 25 more points next thing you know its 50 lol. I always say buy a little bit more than you need. But in your case your buying a guranteed week so the cost for that week can not change so lol Unless you might wanna go 8 nights then spring for the 25 points.

Once they reopened we had a new Guide. Dani Metzger. She was super nice and informative and if she didn't know something she got to the bottom of it for us. She even helped us get the $12,000 off of 300 points at 2 resorts(CCV and RIV) since they both had the same discounts. Not sure if many other guides would have tried hard to get us this deal or not but we really enjoyed working with her Also. She absolutely didn't pressure one bit.
Have you been in touch with Dani recently? She was our guide, but I received an email from someone named Victor Oliveira a few days ago. I tried emailing Dani, but it wouldn't go through. :(

This is the response I received:

She probably quit. I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of people quit Disney with their new employment requirements and discriminatory training.

Has anyone recently been able to break up an initial 150 point purchase into 2 contracts? Specifically, 2 home resorts? We’d really like to buy 75 at one resort and 75 at another but our guide says this is not possible and the initial direct purchase has to be 150 points at one resort. Thanks!!

i bought a long time ago, but i split the minimum initial direct purchase amount into 2 contracts at 2 different resorts. My guide said he didn’t know if he could do it. I told him to find out and call me back. He called back and said i could do it. My advice would be to stick to your guns and tell your guide to check. Tell them that it’s the only way you will purchase. Worst that can happen is that the guide calls you back and says no.
