Today was DS6' first day of First Grade. I took the usual pics at home before we left, and one of him going in the door at school. I had wanted to get some of him at his desk, in the room, etc. They had all of the kids going in the after-school-care room, but you were allowed to go to the classroom and take pictures. I got a great pic of him with 3 of his friends, but when I tried to get him to go to the classroom, he gave me an awful look, and said, "Mom, Just go to work already. I want to see my friends, and I'm not taking pictures now." :rotfl:

It was hilarious! I gave in and had a good laugh at it, after I got over my disappointment. I did remind him that I had to pay his tuition this afternoon, and we WOULD be going to get pictures when I came back. I made good on my promise, but he cooperated, and he said the teacher took "a million pictures of us" that she'll give us later.

GEEZ!

Like he would even think you wouldn't make good on your promise.

our kids are all going to be in scrapbook therapy for ever, aren't they??? LOL

hopefully our first day will go better. I doubt it though when I tell the Kindergarten teacher that DS5 is in fact going on to first grade. I'll let you know the outcome of the first day next week. (which BTW can't get here fast enough) :rotfl2:

Scrapbook therapy... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Yep- DD thought it was freaky that I followed her around at the end of 1st grade party taking picures. :lmao:

I was thrilled to death when I met DS teacher and she told me she takes a lot of pictures during school for the parents, since we aren't there for most of the things they do. A teacher after my own heart!!!!!

I work at an elementary school, and one of my closest friends is a 5th grade teacher there. Last year she took pictures of the students doing different things throughout the year and then had them write about what they did. Then she had the kids mount the pictures and stories on cardstock. At the end of the year, she bound the pages into small scrapbooks and gave them to the parents. They absolutely loved them...she got several thank you notes. One parent said that she cries every time she looks at it and will always treasure it (our students go onto middle school for 6th grade so this is a great elementary school memory).

This year she decided to go one step further. Her theme for the year is Luau (she went to Hawaii over the summer). One of her other friends donated 24 8x10 scrapbooks for all the kids and this weekend, she went to Joann's and bought 4 rolling carts with 6 plastic 12x12 storage boxes in each one. Each student will have their own box with glue sticks, paper, scissors, etc. She is tying their scrapbooks into their luau theme and is using the scrapbooks to help them with their writing skills, measuring skills, addition, subtraction, etc. Isn't that a great idea! I know this years parents will be just as thrilled as last years.

Well, I didn't get a chance to take photos..but will be in the near future.. Most people around here don't scrapbook so I'm in the minority... Actually, I'm usually the only mom carrying my camera to school, field trips, sports events... which reminds me I need to charge the batteries, empty the digital camera and be ready for DS12's first Middle School football game tonight! I have taken my kids up to school on the weekends to have photo shoots! :lmao:

Hmmm....I never thought about taking him over on the weekends, might have to try that one! I don't have any pics of recess.........

I'm never the only one taking pics, I'm lucky that way. Several of the moms in his class sent me a few pics last year that they had taken, and I'm going to do the same with the one I took yesterday of 4 of the kids. Share and share alike, and send me all the pics you have!!!

Yeah I knew my family was in trouble when my almost 3 year old does something and goes Mommy take a picture? or mommy I'm in the pool I want to say cheese. Of course mind you my DsD now 12 (but when I first met her at 5) would strike a pose anytime a camera pointed at her (there was no such thing as a candid shot.) and her mom didn't scrapbook at the time so I guess it can happen to anyone :goodvibes :rotfl:

Our friend takes so many pics of his DS that the child runs when he sees a camera. I can't say anything though. My cats do the same thing!

my ds will definitely be in therapy. last week while on vacation he said to my dh "why does she ( ok, i'm not she, i'm mumma)have to take so many pictures daddy?" and dh's reply was "when she says your name, just turn and smile. it makes it alot easier!!!"

they think i'm nutty with my camera, really! i think nothing of taking 10 pictures of the same thing just so i know i've got what i want!

She was my oldest daughter's teacher when she was in 6th grade, but she didn't do anything like that way back then...however she was always an incredible teacher.
