Haven't been on here for a while as been busy organising the POST wedding party!!...stress!
I had waited for this day (today) for 6 months....to book the Grande One for the evening of our wedding. I was told there would be no problem!
I phoned reservations at 7am (12pm here)and was put on hold for 12 mins..then cut off (which often happens to me!) I phoned again and was told it was BOOKED!!! I am gutted!!:sad1:

I have told all the guests coming from England and Ireland about the Yacht...now I need to find something just as magical.
Does anyone have any ideas?
The wedding is 5th December 2007.

Thanks cavecricket.
Just read your journal........ definitely dress number 2!! that is classy indeed...but looks very expensive?!!!
You'll get the proposal real soon. I waited ages for mine too...but was determined not to ask him...I'm a bit old fashioned in that way!! Let us know as soon as you say YES!!

Sorry to hear you missed out on the yacht! :guilty:

Im from the UK too, your getting married on our 1st Anniversary!! :goodvibes

How many people do you have coming?

Thanks Laura!
There will be only 11 of us in total. But over half have never been to Disney before...it took a while to get them to agree to come!!..I bigged it up with the Yacht.....and now its all gone wrong!!
I should never assume things...I know!!
I remember reading your journal, or about your wedding anyway! Didn't you have a dessert party in Epcot?
Excuse me..but I've got a terrible memory!!:upsidedow

sorry to hear you didnt get the grand 1, It must have been so frustrating being on hold, being cut off and finally getting through to be told that, I really feel for you. If there are 11 of you, would you fit in one of the pontoon boats instead? or would that feel bad because you would SEE whoever had the yacht? havent got any other good ideas for you, sorry.

I'm sorry you couldn't get the Grand One.

What about a pontoon boat as someone else suggested? I'm not sure how many they fit.

Or, you could go in a different direction and do an Illuminations Dessert Party. Other intimate brides have had success in planning them.

Best of luck to you!

hay girl,

i had the sane thing happen to me. i really wanted the yaght but i had too many people. and we already told family and all. so i did what in my head would be the next best thing and i had mine on the water. i am having it on shipwreck beach and we will do a bbq. i figure if you cant be on the water why not be next to it. i am sorry this happen to you. i am sure dinsy will help give you some great alternatives

Ouch -- that's gotta hurt! I'm sorry you couldn't get your Yacht. But like everyone else, I suggest an Illuminations dessert party. It's what we're doing, and I was really amazed at the amount of options they gave us and all the help our planner has been.

Thanks for all your support and advice everyone!!
We couldn't face going out on the Lagoon and seeing the yacht whilst we're on a pontoon boat..too much!
Also there are 11 of us in total and the pontoon boats only take 10.

We have a booking at Citricos at 6pm where we were then going to get on the Yacht for dessert.
Would getting to Epcot be possible for a dessert party? what time do they start? have we enough people?

I thought all the planning was over:eek:

I don't know if you will get your time....but there will be enough space for everyone and you will have to pay a small fee for 11 people 50.00 (small party fee) because you are not 20 people. We have had it in japan and in morco and we loved them and the people are great to deal with, They usually ask you to get there around 9 so that you can watch illuminations from your spot. Its awesome and I think with your own "private group" you will have a great spot to view illuminations without other guests heads being in the way. :) good luck!

Thanks for all your advice.
I am actually thinking of changing the wedding date now:scared1: but i feel that it would be too much....... maybe...
But now I'm also thinking of a dessert party. I originally planned one when I first decided on a Custom Disney wedding but not enough people could make it so changed to an intimate.
I will contact my wedding planner today...(Why does there have to be a five hour time difference!!!!!) to see what I can do, and also to see whats left!!!
I will let you know what I can do as soon as I do!!

I feel so bad for you. I want to suggest that anyone thinking of the Grand 1 should call about a week ahead of the date you actually "think" you are supposed to book it. Usually, you leave a message and they call you back. I also learned this the hard way. It really is worth the money and is such an enjoyable evening.

We called nearly every day from 2 weeks up to the day before the 90 day! but CMs just kept telling us that they were unable to book it at that time and that we had to ring back on the morning of the 90th day. If that makes sense!!
Maybe it's different as an International customer though.
A message asked for a dialling code but would not accept an international one so we just kept pressing hash and eventually got through to a cast member.
So anyone from outside the US should phone a few times before they need to so that they can familiarise themselves with the procedure so they know exactly how to do it on the day.

Oh Yeah...... I changed the wedding day and got the Grande 1 after all:banana: !!!
I just couldn't stop thinking about it. Apart from the ceremony it was the most important part of the wedding for us so we went for it!

So happy now:cool1:

Firstly I rang the Grande 1 to see what days it was free...nearly every day but our wedding date!!! and booked it for the day before and the day after. Then I rang our wedding planner (Karen Serrette) to see what times were available...the day after was free at 5pm. She then rang rev. Miller to see if he was free then too...he was.... so we changed it. It was that easy!!!
So instead of getting married at 10am on the 5th December we're now doing it on the 6th December at 5pm.
We had a lunch booking for the 5th but we're still going to that as a pre-wedding lunch now!!

It seems a lot easier now also, as in I only have to entertain our guests for a few hours rather than all day!!:rotfl:

CONGRATULATIONS!:dance3: :dance3:

Glad everything's working out for you! You'll have to take lots of pics and write a trip report when you get back so we can see how you get on!
