My dream to work for Disney

I know Disney has the student program for Canadians but my dream is to work for Disney full-time. How do you do this? What do you need to do? How do you apply? I have a BBA and graduate certificate in HR and so badly want to move to Florida. Help please!

very very difficult. You have to first qualify for US residency.

Then you have to convince Disney(and the US govt) that you have a skill they can't fulfill by a person already working in the USA.

I tried to get a job there in IT , and even as an award winning expert in my field, couldn't go --they just don't do sponsorship.

Fall in love.
Get married.
Convince your new spouse to move to Orlando (if they don't already live there).

Hope that Disney has an opening in your field.
Apply for the job.
Be more qualified than any of the other candidates.
Get hired.

Easy.

My travel agent worked for Disney. She only stayed a year, as her husband and kids (all older teens) were here in Ontario. She was able to work in the Canadian pavilion in Epcot, as each pavilion hires people from their country to work there.

She's dying to go back, she misses it so much. But with her father not well no her whole family here, she just can't do it again.

I did the the International Program, it was amazing! I know two people who ended up staying, one had duel citizenship and the other fell in love with one of the chefs and they ended up getting hitched.

If you don't have anything "holding you back" here, spouse, kids, crushing debt, I highly recommend going for the IP program, one year is better then no year and you honestly never know what will happen! It was the best year of my life and I wish so much I could go back(I'm totally working on the BF that we need to find an angle to move down there )

I will advise, Not sure how old you are, but it is mostly people in their early 20's and you will be sharing an apt and bedroom and it can a little wild. Think college dorm atmosphere sometimes. lol

I also did the IP back in the 90s and know many who stayed (usually married) one of my friends is married to a guy from "Off Kilter" and they have 2 kids.

As stated above it is pretty hard to get any job in the US just by applying there is such a mountain of paperwork/immigration/visas.

I also agree with the PP I did the program when I was 19 and at 25 you were considered old, lol. You also make minimum wage and live in a shared apartment with others.

lol, I actually went down when I was 23. Most people were early 20's some were older. I found it didn't matter too much as long as you go with the mind set that your there for a good time, not a long time.

And while I mentioned it can be kind of dorm-esque doesn't mean you need to be into the drinking and partying. There are all kinds of people there and everyone gets along! Although I think being atleast 21 is the best age to go so you can have a drink out (not that that stopped people but its just so much easier/better/legal, lol)

My dream Disney job is to become an architect for Disney.

Since this is what I do up in Canada here now but I know for this field getting a job at Disney is damn near impossible since everyone want to become a Disney Imagineer

I would love to be a Canadian Disney travel agent!! I help family and friends book trips all the time and would love to learn how to do it officially. I could only do it part-time right now as retirement is about 7 years away so figure now is a good time to begin looking into this.

But surely you'd have to start in the trainee program? Very often Canadian credentials aren't automatically transferable. You'd have to get approved by the local professional standards body.
