My dog actually "purrs." For real. He has his own canine version of purring he does when contented that consists of little sighs and grunts.

My parents have a cat that (attempts to) bark. She was raised by our dog and never seemed to learn how to properly meow. It's a weird chirping noise, it's amusing.

My cat Eowyn knows several commands including "OUT!" which is the command I use in the mornings to kick all the animals out of the bedroom. Makya also responded to that command when he was alive. Jasper is still learning what out means. Proof that you can train a cat!
