and I didnt' even know it! A neighbor rang the doorbell and asked if this was our dog. He said he was just wandering way down the street.

The sad thing is I didn't even know he was out and I probably wouldn't have wondered where he was until I was ready to feed him dinner. DH & I figure he'd been out for about an hour and half.

Dh took him in the van to pick up ds at school. He let him out of the car, we all went in and never brought the dog in.

I think we just flunked Dog Parenting!

That's not really "running away", that's carousing the neighborhood!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like he was in a bit of a "visiting" mood!

Our neighbors had a boxer, Rosie, who used to go visiting now and again. We would always send Rosie home for dinner. No one seemed to mind that she visits. We always laughed that she came to visit OUR dogs. Kinda miss her now that she has gone on to better visiting places!

Sorry about the eloper.....just hope he didn't find better dog biscuits across the street- or he may "elope" again!

I'm glad he is alright. You learned an important doggie parenting principle today, always make sure the dog is with the kids when you go into the house :)

I'm made mistakes like that too. Luckily this had a happy ending.

Val you are right. He didn't really run away--he just went looking for friends...or owners that care. ;) After 9 years and 3 kids he doesn't get the attention he'd like. :p

When he was a puppy he liked to head to the neighbors mulch, he found that their mulch had "presents" left by the neighborhood kitties. I think he thought this was doggie caviar.

At our second house, he headed 2 doors down to the man with the treats. One time he made it round the corner and was laying on someones porch staring in their front door. LOL!

So now at our 3rd house he must have been in search of new friends. I'm glad he was found and even more glad I bought that id tag before we moved. :smooth:

That's why I love my invisible fence....dog gets out of the car and I don't have to worry about her wandering away...

Glad you r pooch was found ...

Our old dog was a master escape artist and managed to escape from our backyard. Two little girls found her and went door to door asking if anyone knew whom she belonged to, she was a big dog. Poor kids. We were so happy to haver her back, her kennel outside ended up looking more like a prison.

Funny enough a dog followed my wife and son home earlier this evening. It was pouring rain and there was thunder all around. We called the local SPCA place and the police but so far none reported as missing. Looks like he's spending the night. Funny looking little guy. Out Airedale is definitely not impressed.
