We had two bottles (gallon jugs) of Baquicil Shock sitting on our stairs of our garage. We left to go to MIL's house for dinner and DH put our dog in the garage (without me knowing about it). For some unknown doggie reason, he decided to EAT the jugs of chemicals. We got home to SHOCK all over the garage, vomit and an unhappy dog. I checked his paws right away and ended up burning my hand pretty badly. We called the emergency vet who directed us to call Poison Control. They said that Baquicil Shock is 27% Hydrogen Peroxide and they suggest help with anything over 10%.

I called the vet back and he said to bring him on in. So my dh is on the way to the emergency vet with our GSD Luger. Please think good thoughts. I think they are going to give him something in his eye to make him vomit more and then something to prevent the poison from going into his blood. I'm not sure what they'll do to his paws as we already washed them down really well with cold water.

My hand is white now :confused3 and burning like crazy. I have been running it under water this whole time and it is finally starting to let up a bit. Ugh... all we wanted was to enjoy a campfire with friends and instead get hit by this! Poor puppy!

Thanks for any positive thoughts for Luger.

I can't imagine...poor pooch. Yes, please keep us updated. :dog: :dog2: Happy thoughts from my babies to yours

Hope he's ok, here's some prayers and pixie dust from another GSD family. :wizard:

I hope your dog will be ok. The same thing happened to my hands a few weeks ago, don't worry, it goes away. Maybe some kind of hand lotion or vasaline would help.

Oh poor puppy! I hope they can fix him up - please let us know how it turns out. :grouphug:

Just to make you feel a little better, it's not just your dog that eats weird stuff - ours has been known to ingest really odd things from time to time.

Poor doggy!!!

I hope he is okay and I hope your hand is better.

Did you tell poison control about your hand to see if you needed treatment as well?

Can you call Poison Control regarding your hand?

They should have suggestions for you.

:dog: prayed for you puppy & for YOU!

I hope he's okay.

If it's any consolation, they use hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting in dogs. (I know this because mine ate an entire batch of chocolate no-bake cookies.) I know that the concentration will make it entirely different, but maybe it won't be too hard for his body to rid itself of the contaminents.

 Monty Dog got into a poisonous substance before at my mothers house and he was okay. Hoping your pup will be too.

And as others have said, get your hand checked out.

good luck with your dog, ours ate rat poison a while back and vet gave him medicine to fix him up, and he fine so i am sure your vet can help him twith this.

Poor thing, I hope he'll be okay!

I hope your dog is ok. I feel badly for the poor thing, he must have felt so sick and in pain until you got home. Poor fella.
