omg I was blowing up balloons and I left the room for like 20 seconds to check on something in the oven and i came back to an empty bag of balloons!
BF just took him to the emergency room, I am scared :worried:
Anyone have any experience with anything like this? Should I expect my dog will be fine and just a really big vet bill... or worse?

Since he went to the ER right then he should be fine, if you hadn't caught him it wouldn't be the same story. Crossing my fingers all is well. Keep us posted!

We have friends who have a daschund who inhaled a sock. Not pieces of a sock, but the whole sock!

The Emergency Vet gave him some medicine to help him throw up, and he did throw up the sock, still in one long piece. Your dog will be fine. You were very smart to get him to the Vet as soon as possible.

soo relieved:yay: .. they induced vomiting and 24 balloons came back up. They x-rayed him too to make sure there were no more because i wasnt even sure how many i started with. that was so scary. thanks for the reponses

Look how cute my crazy balloon eating dog is ..

I'm really glad that your dog is OK. Thanks for posting the update. My dogs and I have been waiting to hear. He really is a cutie!

I'm so glad your dog is okay. I know how scary late night pet emergencies can be.

He is soo cute! Typical boxer that loves balloons. When our boxer was alive he lived for "boxing balloons". Maybe he was just trying to blow them up for you. :rotfl:

I'm glad he is okay. Let the kidney bean dance begin. :dance3:

My late dog :( ate a parking token once. Took him to the ER vet, they said it was already out of his stomach and would "pass". A couple of days later, he made change. :lmao:

Glad he's ok!!
Another Boxer owner here! Aren't they great!?!?
Last summer mine was "chewing" on his blue hard rubber bone....then he started destroying it. We didn't really think anything about it....little blue chunks all over the house....just pick them up and toss them. Then he started throwing up little blue chunks. After 3 days of not eating and looking like crap, we took him to the vet. After several x-rays, they found a blockage in his intesting. Surgery & $700.00 later, all the little blue chunks were gone. (the vet even saved the largest piece for us....we declined!)

Needless to say....other than the occasional shoe, we try not to leave anything out for him to get too. darn dog!

Oh....don't ya love coming home to the kindney bean dance!!!  makes my day!!

I would think that it would only be a problem if he got real gassy. The results of that might be interesting. :rotfl:

OK, all you animal lovers that are about to push my head underwater...it was just a joke.

Confetti Yard. My dog used to eat balloons and that is what our yard looked like. No harm to my dog.

That is what my dog does! I swear its an adventure cleaning up after him, we have had every color of poop- red, blue, yellow, green etc..and then there are always the surprises you get with it, sometimes coins, balloons, aluminum foil- just about anything the idiot can eat comes back out!

My boxer girl once ate an entire frozen chicken that was out on the counter defrosting, yellow styrofoam too! She has cost me thousands of dollars in vet bills. Usually stuff happens on a Friday night and we have to go to the emergency vet!! Good thing we love her!

my dog ate a whole raw chicken - all of it eventually passed, we didn't even take him to the Dr. He grabbed a whole ice cream pop from my daughter and swallowed the stick whole, came out the same way it went in!

I can't even imagine what it would feel like to poop out an entire popsicle stick. Thats one experience I can live without.:scared: :crazy2:

op, glad your pup is ok!!
