i feel like a crappy dog mom now

I hope you don't feel that way because of my comment. I only said that because I know there'll be a lot of dog people reading this and I thought, in light of the subject matter, it might be helpful (as it was to me), not because you're a bad doggie mom. Who can predict that a dog's going to chew through the fence? If it makes you feel better, when one of my dogs was young I was in the house when my neighbor called to say she was in her front yard. Somehow the gate had come unlatched and she wandered over there, like a lost cow. To this day we're nuts about keeping the gate latched, but with a yard full of kids sometimes we've found it open as well. It happens. Don't be hard on yourself - put that energy into finding the little guy. You can yell at us later.

I was being sincere, believe it or not. I will refrain from responding in the manner you responded to me, and continue to wish that you find your pup.

i apologize, i am very upset and i took it as a non sincere, but like i said, it is not like he was a 8 week old puppy. people who have fence in yards usually leave their dogs unsupervised in said fences.

OP, I'm so sorry, I know I would be totally beside myself I didn't know my Winston was home safe. I hope when you call the SPCA tomorrow, he is there. I've said a prayer for your doggie's safe return.

Thanks to everyone. I picked him up this morning. The spca read his chip and called me as I was on the way there. I cried when i saw him, it was a very rough night.

there was a man there surrendering his GS mix that had killed his 2 yorkies and he was so upset and so the place had a couple people sobbing in there. my boy is sleeping after having a long pee session and eating like there was no tomorrow. we are having the invisible fence thing put in.

what is wierd is that he was in a cage, well long tall cage and it had a cover in front, so not sure if that was to quiet him down or what. but not a many cages had that in front.


i am going to go take a nap, not much sleep last night.

PHEW! My little yorkie mix dug under our fence in the pouring rain one day. After an hour or so of all of us looking, I called our police station and thankfully they had her. That was a really scary time...
