My Disney World Nightmare!

Last night, I was trying very hard to sell DH on the idea of an OL. Since we are only going once a year right now, and driving, he is a hard sell. Went to sleep thinking about it, and had the worst nightmare. I dreamed I forgot my box of Disney stuff I keep in the closet, we didn't have lanyards, water mister, extra stuff for the studio kitchen, glow sticks, moleskin, I had forgotten to pack my shoes and only had the dress flats I wore down. I didn't have any of the information on our ADRs, I got lost in the poly and thought I was at BCV, and the monorails had all been converted to the TTA type ride. AAAAAHHHH

I spend way to much time on the Dis.:rotfl:

I just had the opposite experience on our recent trip. We had just gotten into our room and were unpacking our bags. My DH said "I just realized we forgot to pack ..." I can't remember what it was but it was something we needed to have with us. I walked over to our Owners Locker and pulled it out of the locker and handed it to him!

I'm already wishing we could take our Owners Locker on our Med cruise next year. I also had THE hardest time convincing DH how valuable it would be! It only took one time flying with just carry-ons to get him hooked! :thumbsup2 He always hated schleping thru the airport like a pack mule! :rotfl: I LOVE knowing that when we go down next month the only thing I gotta pack is clothes! What a time saver!!

One thing I did to convince him was to start a pretend Owners Locker at home. I got a large plastic bin that was approx. the same size as the OL and I started slowly collecting things I would put in it and I filled it up with all this stuff (toiletries, mini-umbrellas, ponchos ETC.). Then I showed DH just how many things it would hold and what all it would elminate having to pack. It weighed 45 Lbs! That helped a lot. But I also had to promise I'd stop over packing!:rolleyes1

Good luck! I imagine driving and only going once a year would be an even harder sell.

*cough* product placement *cough*
If your comment was directed at me, let me give you some background. Like the OP, my DH and I debated for a long time before signing up for OL. I tend to be frugal and don't spend money on something unless I can justify the cost. But I also hate waste and it pained me on each trip when I would toss out so many things that we didn't use up during our stay (laundry detergent, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, etc., and even some food items like cans of soup). The cost of those things was less than the cost of a locker however so I couldn't really justify getting a locker just for that, though I was tempted to do so just for the convenience of not having to shop for those things on each stay.

But then I started looking at all the stuff we haul down each time we go. It falls to me to remember to pack all those things and with everything else I have to do when we are preparing to travel, there were times when I told my DH I don't even want to go on vacation because it's just too much work! So OL works for someone like me who feels just a bit less anxious now when packing for a trip, knowing that a lot of the stuff we really want to take with us is already there, in our locker. My story above was meant to illustrate that point.

And for the record, I don't work for OL. I am just a customer who appreciates the service they provide and find it a good value for the cost. In fact, we just added on a second locker on this past trip.

I think the best answer is to let your DH organize everything!! That way you will have no more nightmares!!! Then again, you only have to answer his questions about what he's supposed to bring.

And since you drive there, I see no need for an OL.

I only had to tell my DH once that he needed to pack himself and carry whatever he packed in one suitcase. One day into our trip, he had already asked me for 3 things that he had forgotten to pack himself, which of course, I had.

It was quite the opposite in our household - as my DW was the hard sell. However, after 3 trips with the benefit of our OL in room... she now swears by it too, in fact really enjoying the fact that we went from 1 to 2 OL's back in October. January was a breeze, and so nice even when she "thought" we'd forgotten something but lo and behold, I already had what she needed right there in our handy purple box. We are unfortunately quite distressed about our upcoming trip to DL this December - whatever will we do without those 2 beautiful boxes full of vacation stuff? Ugh. That's the big bummer in our world - we're all set for our east coast trips, but up a creek for the west coast version. We really wish John & Brian could clone themselves out in Anaheim as well....

Before a trip I almost always have the "I forgot the tickets etc. dream"

On our last trip, that dream became our reality! :scared1:

We usually make only one trip to WDW each year and so have decided that the cost effectiveness of OL isn't there, especially when you're driving down.

:scared1: is right!!! What did you do?

Nothing else to do, except buy more tickets when we got to the World. Thankfully, our tix were the non-expiring kind, so we can use them on our next trip...that is if I remember them!
