Someoen got hold of my Disney Visa account number and charged my card up over the limit! Merry Christmas! NOT! :(
Disney Visa seems to be taking care of things, though. Hopefully, it will get straightened out soon. Thsi si the first tiem thsi has happened to me. :(

So was mine. I found out on 11/26 when I got a call checking activity on my account. The fraudulant charges (they only got away with it 3x at at total of about $1,000 - the 4th time it was denied - and my card wasn't even near my limit) were made in Brooklyn, NY at a Communications store and an appliance store. Do you know where your charges were made? I was told that they would be sending me an affidavit to sign but I still haven't received it. :( I did receive my new cards.

YIKES!!! Sorry to hear this. So frustrating, huh?

I'm going to move this to our community board for you.

Mine too.....we got a call checking on some purchases so were alerted to it and cancelled it immediately. These were internet purchases in our case :(
Visa was very helpful....and I got my new card and account number yesterday.

Are these all Disney Visa cards and was did this all happen very recently? I'm using only my Disney Visa for Christmas purchases this year to rack up the points. Now I'm wondering if there's a glitch in their security system somewhere.

Yep!! Mine was a Disney Visa card.

It's not a "disney visa" it's a BANK ONE visa....with a disney logo on it...

Bank One normally has pretty good security measures, but with more people using credit around the holiday's it's bound to happen..especially with the number of cards in use!

i bank with another bank but it has happened to me... believe me i know what you are going through.. its such a pain!

Yep..Bank One Disney Visa.
A pain as that was our "everyday" card to use....but they handled everything VERY well.
We went through the list of charges and told them "yes" or "no" and they cancelled the "nos". We are to call back when the statement comes if there are any we missed.

Ours was Nov. 24-29th.......unauthorized charges.

New card arrived yesterday and I was SO glad to see if still had Day 1 on it!! :teeth:

I think it can happen with any card (if happened to us years ago too).....just someone getting your number and going with it.

Since you did not purchase or receive merchandise or airplane tickets or resort rooms in connection with these bogus charges, you do not have to contact first the merchant to resolve these bogus charges. You may choose to immediately contact the credit card company only and it is their job to find and charge back the fraudulent charges.

I was told the same thing. Did they atek off the charges for you? I'm not exactly sure what they are doing for us. I did tell them what we charged and what we didn't.

I will keep an eye out to make sure they don't charge su for going over our limit, too.

I did receive a rewards card today and I'm wooried I won't be abel to use it when I get to WDw in a coupel weeks. I was told it should be fine, but they did have to cancel our number and will send us new cards.

i'm pretty sure it happened at a restaurant. I was charfed threee times at that place on various days after I ate there. I'm sure numerous friends have had dinner on me. They also used my number at various over places.

...........thanks Shannon.

Sorry to hear about your theft of your credit card number. Hopefully it will be taken care of.

Did they take your actual card or just pirate the account number and expiration date???

That is really scary, but I like that they call every now and then to check on charges. We've been called about 3 times but its always been charges we have made. I guess they thought it was suspicious that we spent almost $900 at the grocery store, but it was for charges at the pharmacy. And that's a normal, monthly expense for us.

Nick, thanks for correcting my spelling again. ;)

The thief took my account number and expiration date off a slip, both my hubby and I still had our cards.

I had pulled up my account today to check on the balance. I'm glad I did cause that is how I caught the bogus charges. I guess it could have been worse if I had waited until the statement came. I'll check online often now.

Shan, do you think your account numbers were taken at a Disney restaurant? I had a friend who was double billed for a lunch at the Rainforest Cafe.

I checked my account online today and it showes Adjustment and then (-) the $ amount for each of the 3 charges that were made.

This is an interesting thread. I received my statement last week and there was a $500+ charge on it that I never made. I notified them right away and it is now in dispute, but all I know is the transaction was made via telephone or internet. I'm still waiting to hear back from Bank One. :(

This is very possible. It is also possible that the thief worked at the restaurant and "skimmed" your card. They have portable readers now that they can slide your card through and it automatically records your number. They can collect hundreds of numbers per night like this.

Ugh. What a pain. I hope Bank One takes care of everything for you. I will be scrutinizing my statement very carefully from now on. Thank you for the warning.

Peggy
