Wanted to post to share my excitement.

This fall, my family of 4 has an 8-night Disney World vacation coming up. We took a 7-night trip last fall, so I was excited to sneak past my wife an extra night for this 2011 trip.

Well, this summer, we found out that my wife is pregnant and that we will become a family of 5 next spring.
Since then, we've done a little adjusting to our trip game plan to make sure we can accommodate my wife's need to rest more often. No problem, always fun to spend time thinking about/re-arranging a Disney trip schedule.

Also -- because of our personal budget and the upcoming baby, this will be our last Disney trip for a good 2 years (I know that's not too long, but with this upcoming trip, she and I will have made 6 WDW trips in a 35-month period...so, yeah, we're spoiled).
In light of that, as our trip has gotten closer and closer, my wife (who thought I was being sneaky for making our trip 8 nights instead of 7) was starting to worry about an 8-night trip being long enough...and she kept hinting that it would be really cool to extend the trip.

Well, after a few nights of budget-crunching, PTO analysis, and airfare considerations...we finally pulled the trigger and now our sneaky 8-night trip has turned into a 12-night vacation.

:cool1: :yay: :woohoo:

Obviously, I am very excited. I feel very good about these extra 4 days being able to help us vacation at a slower pace and do all the things that we really want to do, and maybe even some things the kids have not done yet...like mini-golf.

So, that's it. No question...just wanted to share with the DIS community my fun news! :thumbsup2

:goodvibes How awesome! I love our 8 day trips, but I'd love a 12 day trip EVEN MORE!!! And congratulations on your upcoming addition!

:woohoo: Hope you and your family have a great trip!

Congratulations on your trip and family additions!

Thanks!!

Now my wife is working hard to get a trip her to Boma scheduled. She's the only one who likes, but since she got a chance to eat there back in 2009, she's been missing it badly.

Congratulations on both your upcoming trip and the upcoming baby! Make sure to take lots of pictures to show him/her about the first trip to DW.:cool1::cool1:

Congrats on your new addition and the longer stay :goodvibes. That same thing happened to me too. We are going this January for 3 nights, staying at BCV, after spending 7 nights on a non-Disney cruise. We bought our airfare down already (due to prices that we could not pass up on) but have yet to buy the airfare to get us back home. I have been looking on Airtran's website and the prices have risen a little since we bought our one way tickets but then noticed that if we stayed an extra 3 nights we could get one way tickets (non-stop) for the same amount as the other one way tickets (non-stop) previously bought. Well at first DH would not hear of it and thought I was silly for even mentioning it, that was until I told him if we stayed in a value for those 3 nights and just ate CS, it would be doable. Now my DH is on board with the thought and we are set to book at Pop Century for the remainder of the trip...so our 3 night trip has turned into a 6 night trip :cool1:. The best part is, my kids only know about the 3 night stay at BCV, they have no idea about the cruise or that we are going to extend our Disney part of our trip :cheer2:

LOL - that is almost EXACTLY our situation.

We will be in Beach Club Villas for our first 8 nights (with Dining Plan) and then moving to Pop Century (no dining plan) for the extra 4 nights.
We are traveling with non-stop Airtran flights as well. :rotfl:

#1 CONGRATS TO YOU!!!

#2 Any chance you can marry me and have a 2nd wife?!! I wish I could talk DH into a longer than 7 night trip!

lol, this is what I just heard you say:

"Hey there, would you like to double your Expenses!?"

:woohoo: For extending your trip 12 days is great!
:woohoo: For the Upcoming baby. And as for waiting 2 years...We said the same thing...this will be our 1 year olds 2nd trip this year.

Congratulations on the new baby!
I have a question for you though, how are you able to take such a long vacation during the school year? Doesn't it impact the older kids' school schedule?
The reason I ask is that we are having issues getting 6 days off from school. The school district said that vacations have to be 5 days or less.
I am a former teacher, I get that they need to be there, but sometimes family needs to come first.

That is all awesome news!!!!!

With your wife being pregnant those extra days will come in handy if she doesn't feel like going all day everyday. We used to do 7 night trips, but after a few trips we realized we wanted more time to slow down, relax, enjoy the little things too, and our trips are now normally at least 9 nights. We've taken one 12 night trip and it felt like the perfect amount of time to really enjoy the parks and have it feel like a vacation because of all the extra time we felt we had to just slow down and relax.

I also wanted to say congrats on the new addition to your family!!! Two years will fly by with so much going on in your lives and how great to know the next time you go you'll have a little one to introduce to WDW. I can't think of anything better!!!

12 nights:cloud9: Lucky Ducks! And as far as waiting 2 years to take the baby----our youngest has been on 4 trips and she isnt even 4 yet! Babies are so portable, easy and the best part--FREE:thumbsup2

I'm going to move this to our happy dance board.
