My Disney Store is Closing

I have a Disney Store in the mall 7 minutes from my house. The CM that I usually chat with told me today that their lease is up in June, so they will close by the 22nd. There is a DS 25 minutes away in another mall, but I rarely go there. The draw of my local DS was the ability to run in during lunch (I work from home) quickly & just check out the sales and WDW returns. Now I would have to go on a weekend, once in a while. I know I am luckier than a lot of you whose closest store is an hour or more away now, but I am concerned that all of the DS stores will close as their leases expire. I know I am being silly, but I am really upset about this. All the CMs there knew me by name....
For those of you who have had your local DS close, do they price down their inventory until they close, or do they just ship it to the closest store? Do they just close the doors one day, after business as usual? The store I am speaking of is in VS, NY.

When they close there are no big clearance sales or markdowns. They usually just box everything up and send it to other DSs.
When my old store closed for rehab, we shut down the store after closing on a Sunday. We spent the next couple of days boxing up merchandise and shipping it out. The merchandise does not always go to the nearest store, but rather to a store that can sell it.

I'm with you.... My store is closing on the 22nd also! I probably made my last trip there, last Saturday. What a sad day.

We only have one Disney Store left on the whole island. I don't think they'll close it because it's at the mall where all the tourist go, and they have a whole section which caters only to tourists.

So sorry for your loss!

NEW YORK - In the headlines this morning, Children's Place Retail Stores says it's in talks with The Walt Disney Co. to buy its Disney stores.

Analysts in media reports say the long-term licensing deal Children's Place (nasdaq: PLCE - news - people ) is seeking would allow Disney (nyse: DIS - news - people ) to bring in higher-margin sales without having to run the stores. Disney has been looking to shed the chain, which has been a drag on its recent profits because rival retailers sell its licensed goods at cheaper prices. Disney had said that it hoped to identify an acquirer for the chain by May.
