My Disney Experience: confused about "my magic bands and cards?"

I am so sorry if this is obvious to everyone else but I need clarification in 2 ways.

1. When underneath your magic band is says DEACTIVATE THIS MAGIC BAND:

[] Magic Band is not in use
This Magic Band cannot be used while it is deactivated.
You may activate it at any time.
(or)
[] Magic Band is lost

Q: Is your band active, or do you need to check one of these selections off?....(to me it sounds like it might be active.)

2. If you have unused tickets assigned to you (in MDX) but are using other tickets (not in your MDX) to gain entry to the park, does using a Magic Band (assigned to you in MDX) nullify unused admission tickets, or does not touching it at the entry gate keep all tickets NOT used for entry safely in reserve?

1) don't know
2) If you use a RFID ticket to enter the park, but want to use your magic band for purchases, the fact that you use your MB is not going to make the system figure out you're in the park and deduct a ticket day from your ticket in MDX. You can use your MDX to make fastpass selections ahead of time and still safely use that MB to access rides with FP and not have the ticket day deducted. I don't know how you go about making FPs with your plastic RFID ticket without linking it into MDX.

I'm not sure I understand your question. If neither of those boxes are checked then the band listed is active. If you don't want it to be active, then you can check one of those boxes to deactivate it. I hope that helps?
