We are a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 children. We have our trip planned and booked for mid november. My sister in law and nephew live in Florida and have annual passes. They just learned their scouting schedule for this fall and the two of them are going to join us for a couple of days. They would like to join us in a few meals that we already have reservations for. I will watch for those reservations until the trip and see if I can find them. How do I do that though? Can I book a dining reservation for two more people than are traveling with us? Do I need to be friends with them on my disney experience? Then could they change our fastpasses?

You can make ADRs for any number of people necessary.

If you don't link to their MDE profiles, they won't see the ADR(s) in their plans. You also wouldn't be able to include them in any of your FP+ plans.

Anyone of your friends with their own MDE account can changed shared FP+ plans.

We just added our daughter and her family to our October trip. We already had our ADR's and fastpasses booked. What she did for the fastpasses was to get their own fast passes that were close to the same time as ours. They couldn't get the Seven Dwarfs ride, but they got everything else. For our ADR's we had to cancel our existing reservation for two and make a new one for five people.

We added them as family and they can cancel our fastpasses, make new fastpasses for us, see all our reservations, including our hotel reservations, etc. It is a little scary. :scared: When we traveled to WDW last March with my sister and her friend, we did not link our MDE accounts at all. We still made fastppasses that overlapped, but made them separately. When we ate at the same restaurant we just added them as anonymous guests. It worked out great.

I think there is an option to view reservations but not change them, but I played it safe with my sister and just kept them totally separate.

Moved to the Dining boards for ADR question :)

You can post the FP+ related questions on Theme Parks boards :thumbsup2

My sister decided to travel with us after I had reservations. I know this is the dinning thread but maybe I can address my experience with both ADR and FP+ in one post. We did add her to our vacation though since she is going the same number of days we are. We skipped the dinning plan though since she didn't want to do CRT with us.

For the ADR you options are to:
1 - Look for a res with the correct number of people and switch it out (also call Disney and see if they might be able to add them but it's a long shot)

2- Create an account for them if they don't have one and look for a table of two at the same time as your res and asked to be seated close together (You would need to book it under their account otherwise it will try to replace your existing res)

3- If you can't find anything show up and beg them to accommodate you under your existing res (Many people seem to have success but it never a guarantee)

For the FP+ we just looked for times that overlapped our and plan to ride together during the time overlap. If they don't have a time overlap for now just get one for the same attraction if possible and keep checking for alternate times. It also doesn't hurt to call IT at Disney and ask if they can be added to you times. It seems like there is a lot more flexibility finding opening for single people. We were able to get her a 7DMT FP+ when I called IT but they couldn't get quite the right time. I took what they had and kept checking for alternate times and eventually got an overlap. You can also just get any single FP+ and keep checking for alternate attractions. It really is just diligence on checking for availability.
