My Disney Beer Research

Thanks guys I will have more printable cheat sheets ready soon. I am working on teh other parks too, they are much harder though to research. Is there anywhere else anyone needs info for?

Well, I tried to get some menu pictures this weekend, but after finally locating my old camera, it was too far gone to use. I tried with the thing built into my phone, but that was almost useless. Hopefully I'll be able to get more details on some of these to help you, without having to bring a pen and paper to make notes (I'm not sure I even know how to write anymore). :rotfl:

Thank you for all your work on this! My DF and I just got back from his first trip to WDW and we had a BLAST drinking in the World Showcase in Epcot. Since it was the first time I tried drinking in the "around the world", we missed alot of places (and got stuck in the UK for a long time :rolleyes1 haha). We are hoping to go back this fall, so I will definately be using your guide so we don't miss anything (or run out of money :) ).

From a beer snobs perspective (which I guess I qualify as), The few rare beer treasures to be found in WDW, tend to be some of the bottled products available at the TS restuarants. It never hurts to ask the server if there is anything new or interesting bottled.

It's been mentioned many times, but Le Cellier serves the bottled belgian stlye beers from Unibroue, which are widely considered the best beer on site. They should still serve Fin Du Monde (strong ale), Maudite (dark strong ale), Trois Pistoles (belgain IPA hybrid), and Blanche de Chambly (wheat/white).

Flying Fish used to carry Flying Fish bottles from time to time. Flying Fish is a brewery out of Cherry Hill, NJ, and the restaurant probably serves it due to the name, but they make some decent beers.

The Poly may still have bottles Fire Rock Ale and Longboard Lager from the Kona Brewery in Hawaii. They were served at the Tambu and Kona cafe.

I've heard The Wave carries some of the Wolaver organic brews, and the Cali Grill sometimes has the rare oddball brew from some of the California Breweries.

I guess the moral of the story is never be afraid to check with the server about the bottled beers. And if anyone discovers a new find, please report back :thumbsup2

My husband was thrilled when I printed your stuff out for him -- thanks for all the hard work LOL We are going with the grandkids and after a few days my hubby will be referring to your cheet sheet many times!!!

Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm doing a solo trip in May and plan to do a lot of drinking! LOL

Jiko at the Animal Kingdom Lodge had some interesting and tasty African Beers, worth checking out the bar there if you ar enot interested in dinner.

My favorite place for a beer at WDW is the Big River Grill on the Boardwalk. Get an outdoor seat (provided the heat isn't too bad) and try a sampler of the beers they make. Then pick the one you like best for round 2. I liked the Rocket Red Ale myself.

i love this thread!!! Me and my boyfriend are going in Sept and deff plan on using your tips! What about the pool bars and stuff?!

MAGIC KINGDOM

BYOB!:lmao: just kidding!

No beer here at all!:scared1:

Have been known to wander onto the Monorail to go to the Contemporary for a beer (don't remember what kind) -- could also mono to Poly or GF and then back to MK. It is kind of a nice cool break, actually, but rather unhandy.

I'm guessing you don't have as many replies here simply b/c it is on the adult board instead of the food board :) You might want to post there as well.

From a beer snob's perspective here is my take on best bets!

1. Bring your own beer or have it delivered by garden grocer to your room for that afternoon stop back at the resort or getting ready for dinner refreshment. You will save a ton over park mercantile shop prices! I would NOT say that the resort mercantile prices are much cheaper, at all, than buying a cold one from the counter. And the mercantile selection leaves MUCH to be desired. Not that FL grocery stores have a huge selection...microbrews are not really the thing it appears.

2. WDW Resort Highlights

  • WL Pool Bar - Red Hook ESB. On Tap. Widmeir Heff. On Tap. 'nuff said.
  • AKL - Boma - African Amber, on tap. Yum!
  • Poly - Kona cafe and Tambu Lounge. Kona Firerock Lager in the bottle
  • BW - Big River Grill and Brewery has some nice offerings, we were quite pleased with the beers. It is a chain of some sort but a decent microbrewery chain.

3. WDW Park Highlights

  • DHS - Yuengling Lager at the Lounge adjacent to PTC. Outstanding.
  • Epcot - Kirin at Teppan Edo, Spaten Ocktoberfest at the Sommerfest Bier Cart and at the Biergarten
  • AKL - African Amber at Yak and Yeti Local Foods

4. Universal
While I can't speak to the entire park, I can say that the beer selection (and food) at Mythos, on the Lost Continent at Islands of Adventure was outstanding. Granted that was 4 years ago but it sounds like it's still fabulous!

fabulous!

I typically stay at Ft. Wilderness, and one of the great advantages is bringing a couple cases of good stuff down in the RV. One year we were either in the 100 or 200 loop, right along the path of the Ft.W Segway tour. We'd sit out drinking our beer while the tour came through. The tour guides were even stopping at our RV after a few tours, laughing that we were still hanging out drinking beer. Of course a few days later, they recognized us as were were actually guests on thier tour (and yes we were sober for the tour :thumbsup2)

Thanks for the heads up with the Red Hook on tap at the WL! I never knew about that little secret. It's just a nice ferry ride from Ft.W over to WL Pool Area. Next time I hit the Roaring Forks for a quick lunch, I'm also hitting the Red Hook

I absolutely love this. Thanks for all the info. One of my favorite parts of my favorite restaurant is the German Beer Flight at Biergarten. Four German beers in four small glasses arranged from lightest to darkest. Heaven.

can anyone confirm the cider they use in the UK pavillion at world showcase?

just wondering if it is Strongbow, one of my favorite drinks from my study abroad experience.

A few years back they had both Strongbow and Woodpecker. In '08 I only saw Strongbow ... which means you should still be in luck.
