We had CRT reservations for dinner last night. This is something we always enjoy doing, unfortunately the food was not very good (dh said our meal made our Amtrak food taste like gourmet) and we hardly ate our prime rib. It was dry, tough and had no real flavor.

Over $100 for a yucky dinner is not fun. Dh was really upset and he said that he has had better prime rib at Cocos and spent 1/3 the money. We understand that meals at WDW can be very expensive and have no problem paying for a decent meal. We had a great lunch the day before at Le Cellier with a bottle of wine too that was nearly $20 less in cost and about 10 times better in taste.

On the way out I politely mentioned to one of the hostesses how dissapointed we were in our dinner and they asked me to speak to the manager (which I agreed to but was not very comfortable about) he came out with the chef. They both were very nice and genuinely interested in our complaints. I hate complaining in general, I just don't do it very well as I tend to get upset and then I feel like a baby. But this was something I felt strongly about as it has always be a family tradition of ours to do and having it go so poorly and have dh announce to me several times that this would be the last time we would EVER come here had really bummed me out.

They asked us to come back on Saturday night to eat again, my dh said he would never eat there again, he did not want to come back, but they were so nice and apologetic about it all he caved and agreed to come back again. The manager gave us his card and said he would personally look in on us Saturday and if he was not there someone else would. It will be interesting to see how that goes. I do give them credit for being so caring and nice about it all - they really did seem sincerely upset that we were unhappy with the food.

I will post again with my follow up to this saga.

That is too bad about the less than acceptable dinners. We have learned over the years to immediately send back anything that is unacceptable.

Many people accept what they get, and Disney is great about getting it right if they make a mistake. We went to Yachtsman Steakhouse this past July, and my wife's steak was well done when it should have been medium rare. Back it went, with a delicious replacement (and several apologies) in just a few minutes. Turned out to be less than a blip on our disappointment radar! Don't be afraid to ask them to correct a problem AS it occurs! Mistakes happen and its up to us to help Disney do right.

I hope Saturday is wonderful!

Sorry that meal wasnt so good.

I can appreciate that you don't like to make a fuss but why should anyone pay for a meal and not receive what they asked for. Speaking to a manager about a less than perfect meal, if done correctly, can usually result in a very positive outcome.

Hope everything goes better on Saturday.

Wow ~ let us know what happens on Saturday.

At least they cared.. I mean the hostess could have just shrugged and not said a thing to the manager.

Random question......did you have to wait long for your table?

I'm really sorry you didn't have a good meal, was everything else good? Service? You should have sent it back because we gladly would replace something if need be. What were your expectations through talkign to Brian? He would have adressed the problem immeadiately if you would have asked to speak with the manager while at the table and maybe better results would have come about....

Great job speaking up for yourself! I agree that too many people settle for less and don't let the Cast Members know it was disappointing. Good for you! I hope that your next meal is great. I'm glad that the manager and chef were willing to listen to you and that they are going to go the extra mile to make your next visit worth it! Who knows, your conversation may have helped them focus on quality and other families will end up really satisfied with their food as a result!!! :)

Sorry to hear your dining experience was not as magical as it should have been...hope this Saturday makes it all up for you!

I don't think that there is anything wrong with telling the waitstaff, hostess, manager or chef if you were not satisfied with any part of your meal as long as it's done in a tactful way. One of my pet peeves is people carrying on like crazy (and making fools of themselves) rather than addressing their concerns to the employees. It doesn't sound like you did this at all, just a "soapbox" issue of mine. Sounds like you handled this very well.

Sounds to me like they appreciated your speaking up and doing it in a polite and tactful way. I hope your dinner on Saturday will be a much more magical experience and that you will be able to continue your tradition.

Okay we went back on Saturday night.

We were treated like royalty! I will post a separte review about the whole experience.

:)
