Hi folks,

just after some opinions on dining options for our trip in september, we are only there for 10 nights staying at Coronado Springs and the full dining plan.

Here is what I have in mind so far

Mama melrose Fantasmic package
Boma
Le Cellier
Coral reef
Planet Hollywood
nine dragons
Wolfgang puck
Crystal palace lunch
Chef Mickeys breakfast

My wife although not a vegitarian doesn't eat meat other than chicken so we are quite limited really as neither of us particulary like seafood either.

I love the sound of the Aloha dinner show but the food just isn't appealing sadly, same with Hoop.

We fancy trying both Chef Mickeys and Crystal Palace but aren't sure what meal to do at each, is the selection similar?

For the Mama Melrose package will I need to ring up? Would love to see Fantasmic as we missed out last time, I suppose before we book that we need to know what nights the shows on.

Hopefully we enjoy the Pepper Market as it seems ideal for a QS.

Thanks once again for all your time and any opinions will be greatly appreciated

Tom

Hi

I like the look of your choices, we love Chef Mickey and Crystal Palace but will do lunch or dinner at both - don't liking being tied to brekkie times. I am a vegetarian and have never been short of anything to eat anywhere!

I am trying Boma and Le Cellier for the first times in August but am looking forward to it.

With regards to booking you would definately need to make ADRs for everything especially Mama Mellrose, Chef Mickey and Le Cellier -> do this as soon as you can. You can book all your 10 days 180 days before your trip. You can also book online - not for the Fantasmic package though -you will need to ring for that and they will let you know if the show is available for your chosen day.

I hope you have a great time.

Oh you have some nice places! Nine Dragons was our favourite meal last year - excellent quality and brilliant service! Good value as well. Le Cellier is brilliant, and Boma dinner is one of our must do's every year! Have only done CP at dinner, and then they always have turkey and beef on the carving station, so I imagine lunch is the same! There is usually a chicken dish as well, as well as pasta's etc. MY DH and I hate fish as well, and we have always got on fine in these restaurants! You will be fine having a Chef Mickey breakfast - loads of meat free choice.

We are trying Mama Melrose this year - can't wait! It gets some really good reviews!

Sorry I may have worded it badly. I am planning on doing all the reservations online but the Fantasmic dinner package I'll need to ring up about correct?

On our first trip to Disney for our Honeymoon last year we only really did breakfast at CRT otherwise we ate mainly at Downtown disney and contrary to most people we really liked Planet Hollywood so will definitely return there.

Thanks for your input :thumbsup2

My pleasure and I hope you really enjoy your trip. My fault mis-reading you!! Yes, you only need to call for the Fantasmic package and also the lunch buffet at Tusker House which allows you reserved seating at the Nemo show. The Fantasmic seating dinner times are very early: around 3pm to 5pm (ours is 3.40pm). I guess they know they can fill the restaurants at what would be a quiet time. Happy booking and let us know how you get on.

Yet another question as we are still tinkering, if people were to go to one or the other would they choose Le Cellier or Chef de France? We know one does an adult Macaroni but the wife is hoping Le Cellier will do as well.

We have decided to knock PH on the head as even though we enjoy it we decided we enjoyed the starters there more than the mains so may pay out of pocket one night for it.

We are also adding Tonys at MK for lunch

DD, who's a vegetarian, was on the free dining plan last year.
she said that there are good choices for vegetarians at all of the table service restaurants - and if the vegetarian choice on the menu doesn't suit you, the chef will prepare you something special....(even at places like the sci fi dine in - where the chef prepared something for her that she said was truly outstanding - how completely surprising)...

also, when she had dinner at Chef Mickey's, the chef came out and took her through the buffet, explaining each and every dish, detailing exactly what was in each one and what she could and couldn't eat...she said he was as nice as could be..

when she had dinner at the crystal palace, there was also a lot for her to eat, but in addition to what was on the buffet, they specially prepared food for her....that was surprising to us...that even at the buffet, the chef offered to specially prepare food for her (even though there were also a lot of vegetarian choices on the buffet)...

Your daughter's experience sounds great but I just wanted to warn people that this isn't the norm. I'm a vegetarian and the only time a chef came out to speak to me was Chef TJ at 'Ohana (:lovestruc). Maybe you have to specifically ask to speak to a chef to get any extra attention?

My experience was the opposite - they were always trying to bring the chef out to see me!! It was always the server who offered though - maybe it was luck of the draw. I didn't need to see them very often at all - I could always pick myself something.

my daughter was traveling with her best friend - they're both vegetarians...

her friend loves the veggie burgers and so she ordered them everywhere...
it turns out that even when the veggie burger doesn't appear on the menu, you can still order it..

my daughter has more varied tastes and so sometimes ordered the vegetarian dish on the menu, but mostly had whatever it was the chef whipped up for her...
it was my understanding that DD did NOT ask to see the chef...rather the chef came out without her asking to see him...

and this was on the free dining plan....very good service for someone who isn't even paying (except for the tip)..

I've heard a lot about the vegetarian meal at Ohana, what did it consist of?

Tempted to try it cause the place gets good reviews mainly.

Sorry to bump and old thread but with regards to the Mama Melrose Fantasmic package, is it nigh on impossible to get availability?

The show is only on 4 times when we are there and we are yet to see it and would really love to and think the package is the best way to do it.

We've done it twice & had no problem getting the dates we wanted. Even last year when it was 90 days + 10, although, I know a few did have difficulty last year. We did'nt want it this year, but have noticed a lot have managed to get it for August. Think you'l be fine, have a few dates in mind. Also, you get an appetiser with the package.

Big bump for this but I thought it was better than starting another thread.

Finally decided on our last remaining credit today, going for Teppan Edo, it looks like a decent enough choice.

Our complete list is:

Tonys MK lunch
Boma Dinner
Coral Reef lunch
Crystal palace Lunch
wolfgang puck dinner
Le cellier dinner
Chef Mickeys breakfast
Tusker house lunch
Mama melrose fantasmic dinner

The only one I am unsure about is Coral Reef at present but I can't think of anywhere I'd rather go.

Did you manage to get a booking for le cellier? If you did well done but dont be suprised if you dont. Iv also tried for the fantasmic since the 180 day window and didnt get it. Managed to get le cellier for a lunch time slot.
Good luck and I have booked coral reef but a bit hesitant after what wayne said.
If daughter didnt like sharks so much I would go elsewhere.
Mama melrose is great folks. If you like minestrone soup you will love it here.yummmmmmmmmmmmy:thumbsup2
Tom you are there the same time as us :woohoo:

Sorry I should have made it clearer, we booked 9 at 180 days out, and had one credit left, we have just booked Teppan Edo as the tenth.

The rest were all booked a while back, Mama Melrose was a struggle to get though.

As I said Coral reef is confusing me, the Chocolate Wave looks great but the rest of the menu, not so much. Sanaa is far more appealing to me but I have no idea how we'd get there as it's meant to be tricky.

Can't wait now September 21st can't come soon enough.

You have a great line up. I would just leave it. Once you get there you can always get some advice from your resort consierge and they can check for availability if you want to replace the Coral Reef ressie.

Have a wonderful trip. I think your dining plans look smashing! :thumbsup2

Staying at CSR this time, did a week at RPR last year and loved it.

We are only doing ten days this time due to leave issues as we went to NY in March for our anniversary. Only doing Disney this time though as we did evrything we wanted over and over at Universal last year with the FOTL access.

We have decided to try Sanaa now instead of Coral Reef so fingers crossed about that.

Are you doing MNSSHP? We are there on the 28th
