Here is my quick review of dining throughout the Disneyland Resort, you can see we did a lot of park hopping and
sometimes skipped meal because the previous meal was very filling.

Day 1 Lunch: DCA Soap Opera Bistro
I was very disappointed with this experience. (I was hoping for more atmosphere here). We were seated in the
AMC area and the CM server delivered her one soap opera line and then took our order and never went into character again. Unfotunately each of the servers use the same line to greet all guest and there is most interaction of the cast. The food was not very interesting either. I have read other reports that said the food was good, but it did not meet my expectations. I had the Ham pizza. It was a very thin crust pizza with lots of smoked ham (reminded me luncheon meat) and little cheese, this also came with a small salad. I hope others have had better experiences here than I did.

Day 1 Snack: DCA Sam Andrea Shakes
Date Shake while waiting for the Eureka! Parade. They take vanilla ice cream and blend in dates. It is very thick, rich and hard to drink through a straw. Too much for 1 person.

Day 1 Dinner: DD Napels downstairs
This is very busy place at night. Unfotunately they ran out of chianti wine (This is an Italian Resturant). We had a chicken and palento starter that was very good. I ordered the lasanga and unfortunately was not expecting
sausage as the meat, so I was dissapointed. The meal overall was good. Very busy place, so you might expect to wait some

Day 2 Lunch: DGC White Water Snacks
Cheesebuger and Fries. For a snack bar, I thought this was a very good cheeseburger. I got it to go and took it back to the room.

Day 2 Dinner: DCA Vineyard Room
On Day 1 we made this priority seating for this resturant for 7:30pm (park closes at 8pm). We ate here in January and really enjoyed the meal, we wanted to repeat the experience and we were not disappointed. (We even had the same server, so she took care of us). This is a 4 course meal that is served family style (everyone at the table must order the same items, except for dessert). Dinner Cost is $36/person or $50pp with Wine pairing or $85pp with reserved wines. Children eat free with a paying adult. I would think about this one again, especially when the EL Parade moves to DCA, Good viewing area for the parade. You do have to stand since the wall is higher than the table, but still a good area.

Day 3 breakfast: DD La Brea Bakery
Granola and Fruit. I love this granola that I bought a bag to bring home ($7 ouch). It has pumpkin seeds in it.
Sat outside and waited waited for DL Park to open.

Day 3 Lunch: DCA Conina Cucamonga Mexican Grill and Pacific Wharf Cafe
Got the fish tacos at the Mexican Grill. They were a little dry (hey I am use to La Salsa's or Rubios Fish Tacos), but still filling. Also tried the cheese soup in the sourdough bread bowl from the Pacific wharf cafe. I would have to say that this is the best deal in disney, for $5.99 you get a pretty filling meal that tastes good. The sourdough is excellent.

Day 3 Dinner: DL Bangal Barbecue
Had always read so much about this place, that we stopped and had the chicken and beef squewers. We were not disappointed and had a filling meal. Unfortunately not a lot of places to sit around here, but you can take it to another sit down area and enjoy. Ummm, I really like this.

Day 3 Dessert: DL Fantasmic! Dessert Buffet
Yes, we got up early 6am and waited in line outside guest services and got tickets for that evenings showing of fantasmic on the balcony. Desserts were Chocolate Torte, Rasberry cheese cake, assorted Fruits, Lemon bars, cookies, chocolate bars and other small finger desserts that I did not try. It is expensive $41pp, but I think it is worth it not to have to fight the crowds

Day 4 Breakfast: DL Carantion Cafe
Granola and Fruit. I know a lot of people like this cafe and perhaps because it still has some of the same CM working there and it is one of the last full service resturants in DL, but I just thought a lot is lacking here. The food wasn't really that good and service took a long time. Hopefully it was just us and will will probably give it another try in the future.

Day 4 Lunch: DCA Avalon Cove Bar Area
Not a hugh menu selection, but the food is good. I had a roast beef sandwich that was excellent. The meat was rare and served with horseradish sauce (I think this is the only non seafood or fish dish on the limited menu).
They offer serveral different Sushi plates. You can have a drink and watch everyone on Paradise Pier.

Day 5 Breakfast: DGC Storyteller's Cafe
This is a Character Breakfast with Chip n Dale and Pluto and is not very crowded. We were not given a menu this trip and directed towards the buffet (which I think is one of the best buffets) $17.99/person. If you are not a buffet type person or just don't want to eat that much, just tell your server that you want to order a la carte.

(Had to go home on Day 5)

Hi Lucky1,
I really enjoyed your reviews! Now, we should send you to WDW to do the same. Or how about Paris? Tokyo?

Really enjoyed your commentary!!

Dr. Happy

If you are willing to send me then I am willing to go to WDW, Paris or Tokyo.

Food and Disney.... 2 things I love :D

We had lunch at the Soap Opera Bistro also, and weren't too impressed with the lunch menu. We split a "pizza" and each had a salad - nothing memorable here. Our terrific meal was at Brennan's Jazz Kitchen - WOW! Terrific food and service. ESPN was a lot of fun and great food.

Ditto on the Soap Opera Bistro review. We had lunch there in the AMC area. Our server was dressed like she was from GH. She was never in character and frankly was a very poor waitress as well. We won't go back. We celebrated our anniversary at Napa Rose, in the GC. The decor is exquisite and the food outstanding. We had great service and the wine selection was immense. It's quite expensive, but worth it for a really nice dinner out. The only downside, we were a couple celebrating our anniversary and wanted a little privacy, they sat us at one of those tables where one side sits on a booth and the other side is a chair. There was another table within reach of us using the same booth as seating and when they sat another other couple beside us and we could hear their conversation about business for the rest of the evening, it kinda spoiled the atmosphere. Insist on a more private table if you want a little privacy. We should have insisted on a table by the window.

Lucky,

Can you explain the kids eating free at the Vineyard? Was that a limited special...dinner only...how'd you get that great deal?

Thanks!

dbond (or anyone who's been to Napa Rose lately),

I know you were at Napa Rose for dinner, but did you happen to notice if they were open for lunch? (Was it a weekday?)

I've been hearing conflicting info, and Disney's site doesn't say. One DISer who was there about a month ago said it was closed for lunch, but when I e-mailed Disney, they said it's open!!!

Cindy and Micky... When we dined at the Vineyard Room, there was a sign on the posted menu that mentioned Kids eat free with a paying adult. While we were there, the was a family. It looked like the kids received a different menu. This is definately an adult resturant, so if kids do not like to sit for a long time then this might not be the place for them.

LuvTigger... Last week of May, Napa Rose was closed for Lunch everyday. Only opened for Brunch on Sundays. In January it was open for Lunch. This may change with the season. I was very surprised that over memorial day weekend it was NOT open for Lunch.
