My DH didn't really want to go to Disney World in September in the first place. He knew it could still be pretty hot. But becaues of my school schedule (hopefully I'll be done soon!) this was really the only time we could go. His company had given him free airline vouchers and $400 worth of travelers checks so we had to use them somehow.

Then we hear our resort, Carribean Beach, is shutting down for the time we were going to be there. This really made him mad. First he's going to be hot and now he doesn't get to stay where he wanted to. To make matters worse, he convinced himself we would get stuck in an All Star!

So we got the upgrade to the AKL. Now not only does he not get to stay where he wants but he has to pay extra money to not stay where he wants. Things aren't getting any better for him.

So then we got offered the Polynesian. I was so excited and I called him at work and told him. He was busy so he didn't have time to talk about it much. Well, over the past few days he's been showing more and more enthusiam. You see, he hasn't stayed at the Poly in like 10 years. It's his all time favorite resort and he's always wanted to take me there but he could never aford it. So now that it's all set in he keeps showing me pictures, sending me links, and telling me all about what the Polynesian is like. He's litterally GIDDY! PLUS it's like he has forgoten about how HOT it could be in September. He's gone from being forced into going to being EXCITED about going.

Now I'm thinking maybe CBR closing was a blessing in disguise. It just goes to show that when things seem really bad sometimes they do actually get better :)

True, Princess, true. Things do have a way of working out for the best. :D

Stephen is the same way. Initially, I wanted to be there over my b-day (8/25). I called DVC, and the only availability was at OKW. I like OKW, but Dh doesn't like its remoteness. He likes being in the middle of it. Actually, he only likes the Epcot resorts. So I made ressies, and he was not looking forward to the trip, but happy that I am going over my b-day. So, I got up early and called to see if there was availability at Beach Club Villas or Boardwalk Villas the week after labor day. Amazingly, I got 9 days at BCV, and we are going during Night of Joy. I called him and told him, and he was so happy. He just thinks your whole vacation hinges on where you stay. Although he is not as excited as I am, he is still looking forward to it more than he was when we were staying at OKW. Men, go figure ;) !

I am so happy to hear this! It definitely does sound like a blessing in disguise. You are so very right... just when things seem bad they do get better! :sunny:

Sounds wonderful! I'm sure you are going to have a fantastic vacation, especially now that your dh is excited too!

Men ARE wierd! If someone told me I was going to Disney World but I would have to sleep in a car, I'd still be like: WOO HOO!!! I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD! Of course, I kinda had the feeling we'd have to sleep in a car or something after they closed CBR, but no matter what I was still going to Disney World. Staying at the Polynesian is just icing on the cake to me while for DH the Polynesian IS the cake :)

:bounce: Gee, wish I accidentally had to stay at the Poly:D I live for that giddy feeling. I'm pretty sure it adds years to your life

I'm glad your DH is more excited about your trip. Unfortunately, my situation is the exact opposite. We were also staying at the CBR over Halloween. We were given the $20 per night upgrade to the Polynesian. I am elated. We have never stayed at a monorail resort before, and I have always wanted to stay at the Poly. My Dh, on the other hand, is not thrilled with paying the extra $20 per night, no matter where it is. IS HE CRAZY?? When are we ever going to stay at the Poly for $119? NEVER!!!

Oh well! I'm happy!

Wow that is great news!! As the time draws nearer the more exciting it will get!!! You will love the Poly, I sure did!!!!

Have a great time!!

My DH is the EXACT SAME WAY. He HATES spending money. He was kinda ticked about it at first but once it sank in he got a lot happier about it. Maybe once your DH gets there he'll change his tune. I'm just worried that I'll get spoiled and never want to stay anywhere else. I think once it sinks in that he got like a 75% discount on a great resort he'll feel much better. I've never stayed at the Poly either but my DH acts like its heaven :)
