I need your help guys. I hope that I posted this in the correct topic..

We are flying Southwest down to Disney. We originally were taking a flight and arriving at 10:45 am on a Sunday. We have 3 day base tickets ..so we were scheduled for the parks M, T, W and going to Seaworld on Thursday. I figured we could enjoy our resort on Sunday with swimming and eating.. We fly home on Friday. I was thinking of using DME coming into Orlando and renting a car for the last couple days for Seaworld/Trex and getting ourselves to the airport.

My dh hasn't been too involved in the process until it gets time for the total. We checked and saw there was a cheaper flight out on Monday with an arrival at 9:20am. That also saves us on our hotel too. It's about a 300 dollars savings. But, i am wondering if this is a mistake? We would lose part of our Magic Kingdom park day..I can't switch it out for DHS because I have a CRT ressie that I won't give up!! .. I feel like we are wasting some of the ticket...and we really won't have a lot of time to enjoy our resort either. I know my kids want to swim. I believe Monday is the EMH hour for MK though..so that might help.

How long does it usually take to get from the airport to the resort (poly) using DME? I haven't flown in sooo long since I am sooo scared...But I remember flights being delayed all over the place..Do flights get delayed often? I am assuming we would be ready to get to the park at around 11:30 if the flight is on time..Is that a good time frame? I am trying to figure out if saving 300 dollars is worth it.

I guess to try and and answer your main question.... no it isn't worth it to save $300.... but that is just me. I don't know your personal situation. It would take 60-90 mins for scheduling purposes to get to the resort from the airport. You must check-in, etc. after so provided you are on time 11:30 sounds doable. Keeping the kids in mind though, they won't get to swim very much. If your plan was Sunday (which is a great plan) then they might be a bit disappointed. DH saved $300, kids get jipped. As far as delays go, there are so many factors that play into delays it is hard to say. For the most part they try to be on time and get you where you need to be when they say you will be there. Crew, equipment, weather all play into these and many aren't known until the day of your flight. If there are storms somewhere it may impact you or it may not, it truly is hard to say. You can check the historic timeliness of your flights on sites like flightaware.com, but it is no guarantee of future performance.

Thanks for the reply....We really don't have to much of a situation..He just likes to save money where he can...I think it kills him to spend another night in a hotel room....but I think my plan is a better one even for 300 dollars more. My dh is just different from me where he thinks hotels are just a "place to lay your head" and thinks it won't be about the pools..But my kids have made it quite clear that they are excited about going swimming. They don't get to go that often. I enjoy resorts and hotels..dh does not. So it just so happened that the poly fell into my lap..and it became a better deal for us ...So he was all for it and I was happy getting a nice place to stay.. I just wanted to see if my plan made more sense or if I just have poly goggles on.....and want to stay another night!

Id save the $300. If the parks are open late Monday night you could spend all day and all night and still get your money's worth. Many of the pools are open late as well. My kids alway enjoy coming back to the hotel after a day at the park and going for a swim before bed.

Not worth it.

Kids tend to LOVE swimming. No matter where. We took really inexpensive trips, staying at Motel6s along the way...the BEST part of those trips was the couple hours a day we could swim to our hearts' content in the sad little rectangular pool that most adults probably wouldn't want to get in...

You're at the Poly...that's going to be excellent for all of you.

Stay strong! Gaining that money isn't worth the relaxation of getting in a full day before your touring plans start, getting to explore the resort, getting to swim and just have FUN....

I'd stick with the plan to arrive on Sunday. Kids love swimming in the pool so I always make sure to plan time for it! In fact, I took my niece for her first trip last fall (she was four, almost five at the time) and one of her top three things was swimming in the pool (actually, I think it came in first place).

I wouldn't give up a day at the Poly. I would forgo the rental car and Seaworld first. You can get to T-rex via Disney transportation to Downtown Disney. ME does not incur a cost, so you'll have your transportation back to MCO. Poly is a lovely resort and an extra day there will make your vacation a "vacation."
