Where should we eat? We are going down with my inlaws, my mother and our 15 year old DS. We are planning to have a night on our own (can't wait) so what should we do for a lovely dinner?

We have AP's so parks aren't a problem...

Give me your best...(No V&A though)

Thanks!

Emmy

All depends what you are looking for. If you are true carnivores and whant the best steak on property my suggestion is Shula's. It is by far the best steakhouse on property. It's pricey but done right no more so then YSH which is the minor leagues compared to Shula's.

We were fortunate to have two nights out (my parents and my MIL were with us and they offered to babysit two nights). For our first night we went to Shula's and had a scrumptious dinner. Then we went shopping at Downtown Disney. We were going to mini-golf, but I saw the stores while waiting for our Dolphin bus at DtD and I HAD to go, esp without the kids. Our second night we changed our minds a lot...it was our last night at Disney...we had a PS for Bistro and then we were going to watch Illuminations afterward. Then I wanted to eat at California Grill and go to E-night afterwards. But then DH got an uncontrollable craving for Benihana. Earlier that day he and Dad watched both boys so Mom and I could park-hop just the two of us, so I owed him a favor. So Benihana at the Hilton it was, and afterward we went shopping and went to Pleasure Island. I would highly recommend Shula's, but I sure wish we were able to eat at CA Grill- it has a fab view, and scrumptious looking food! I think you should try it! Then maybe try and coordinate it with an E Night and go have some fun after dinner! Or tour the monorail resorts afterwards...

Shulas is very good, but not romantic.

CG is also very good, but again, not terribly romantic.

Jiko is my favorite WDW restaurant, and depending on where you sit can be romantic.

Citrico's is wonderful, and we find it very romantic.

Narcooses has excellent food and a fireworks view, but isn't high in the romance department.

If you want romance and as few kids as possible, Citricos is your best bet. Shulas also has a minimal numer of kids. We've also seen fewer numbers of kids at Jiko than some of the other restaurants. CG and Narcooses seem to attract a lot of families.

I also didn't mention the Yachtsmans Steakhouse--The quality there slipped a few years back, and since the Yacht Club Glley closed for dinner, there seems to be a lot of kids there. Because of the decor the sound travels, making it very noisy and definitely lacking in the food department.

We are looking at the possibility of that next year. As of now, Ive narrowed it down to either Palios or Yachtmans.

For our night without kids we ate at Marakkesh in Epcot. There are so many resturants there we haven't eaten at (still!) and that seemed like a good one to try without our kids. The resturant is very pretty, all the tile work and the belly dancer and music was neat. We had a good server and good food.

Next trip we will probably do Les Chefs without our kids, but the kids are older and a bit more adventurous so we plan to try Rose and Crown, and Teppanyaki with the kids!:D

California Grill would be my choice...and request the wine room.

California grill or Palios. CG will be a bit louder but the fireworks viewing is very cool. Palio's is quiter and has strolling musicians. Check out both menus and see which appeals to you the most!

Enjoy!

My husband and I have a whole day to ourselves also and we were trying to decide. We had California Grill or Bistro de Paris picked out and then we decided to go to Jiko. We thought that it would be neat to check out the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the menu looked pretty good. Seems to get good reviews here on the boards so what the heck.
