My dh having bad luck with Ebay...

A while back a guy won a bid on a camper furnace my dh had listed, he never paid. My dh resubmitted that and a lot of other camper things.... one guy won all of those, he never paid. My dh bought a VCR for our camper/car- the guy said it worked- we got it, no sound, won't rewind, and the picture goes nuts every once in a while.

He has been doing this for quite some time with no problems- I'm wondering if he's jinxed or something!!

Ouch! I just started selling on ebay about three weeks ago and knock on wood I have had no problems at all with people paying promptly - nor have they had any complaints about my S&H, packing, or the items themselves.. On the other hand though, I know it's probably only a matter of time until SOMEONE has some kind of complaint because when you're dealing with such a large number of people it's bound to happen..

Sounds like your DH has hit a rough spot.. I'm sure it's discouraging - and if it ever happens to me, I'll probably sit down and CRY - but it will get better.. You read about this stuff all the time on the message boards on ebay.. Some people are chronic non-payers - and unfortunately, some people also think they can get away with selling items that aren't in the condition that they claim them to be in their auctions..

Tell him not to give up.. It's still a great way to make some extra money!!!!

and you get a bad batch of bidders..but please..when this happens..file a NPB (non paying bidder) warning..and then 10 days later file for your FVC (final value credit)..when a buyer gets 3 NPB's from different sellers (all 3 from the same seller don't count)..they get suspended..and it does all of us sellers a favor!

Well personally I am ready to strangle EBAY. My credit card on file expired. They sent me a notice. I tried to update it with TWO different credit cards. (Both of which have been used for internet purchases) Their reponse was that these were invalid cards! WHAT? So after searching for about 10 minutes I finally found a way to send them a message. Sent message. Got a response that had NOTHING to do with message.

Decided to try again. Now my user ID is not a valid one. (Not suspended, just does not exist!) Sent another message asking for a PHONE number. There has to be one! This may be the end of EBAY for me, I should not have to go to this much trouble to pay them $1. (Which is what I owe!)

Have you tried going to the ebay "live" help section and talking to someone there via the internet? Not sure if it would work or not but it's worth a shot.. I've heard LOTS of people grumble about the "form" email responses.. I'd be annoyed too!

Being that I've only glanced at e-bay twice in my life, I just wondered, is there a fee when you sell something? Also, if you get a personal check as payment if you sell something, can you NOT ship until the check has cleared? What options do you have besides a personal check if you are not a business owner & do not accept credit cards?

So sorry your DH has encountered some problems. I guess those things are likely to happen. Are you able to report the person who sold you the bad equipment? I take it there is no "return" policy when you are dealing with private sellers, right?

Luckily my only bad luck lately has been that the last two sellers I have bought from have not left feedback. Makes me feel bad because I don't buy all that often and since your feedback is your reputation on eBay it would be nice to have more current info. I always have quick contact, fast payment and I always leave feedback.

Oh well there are certainly worse things, but I wish people would take a few minutes and finish the transaction with feedback.
