We went to WDW a couple of weeks ago and now my DD2 keeps saying "we're going to Disseywhirl". She watches the Disney channel all day and she gets so excited. I've told her no we aren't going but she gets so upset. I just feel so bad. She jabbed me with her elbow the other day and started crying when I told her no. I've started saying ok or yes we're going now. Is this wrong? I don't know how to make her understand. She had such a great time and doesn't understand when I say we'll go next year. Anyone else have to deal with this??? It's breaking my heart. :(

We went this past October and my three year olds are still talking about it and want to go back. The only thing that saves me is the fact that, while we had a great time, my daughter was afraid of all dark rides and all the characters. So when she asks if we are going we ask if she is ready to ride the rides and hug Pooh. She usually thinks about it and says no and that she'll go when she's bigger. We're going to try to take them when they're five. Her brother takes his cues from her, so we really have to wait untill she's ready. Could you take your daughter on a trip to the Disney store and out to lunch to help her get her Disney fix? Or maybe you could make a mark on her growth chart and say when she's that big you'll go back to Disney (have it correspond to a height requirement for a ride she might want to go on). I know how you feel. We all wish we could give them the moon and at this age they just don't understand money. Good luck.

Are you currently planning to go next year? If so, then get her involved sorta. Buy or print out your own "Disney Themed" calendar and start a count down. If you have a scanner, let her choose some pics from your trip and print your own calendar. If you dont have a scanner, take the pics to a copy store or print shop and have them make a calendar. They seem to run around $20 and I've seen them offered at WalGreens and WalMarts. Then with a red marker countdown the days. Maybe on special days like 100 days to go have a Disney breakfast and make ºoº pancakes and name all the other food with Disney names. Add lil notes to the calendar like on the last month to make a paperchain to count down the days too. Let her ask for Disney $$$ for Bdays and holidays or tell relatives she's really into Disney. Some of this may be over her head but you'd be amazed at what kids can comprehend when its something they are obessed about.

My dad reminded me of that a couple weeks ago.....seems when I was 3 and we were on a 6 week vacation "outwest" I start worrying about finding home again and about counting and saving everyone's change to buy things with. Seems I learned to find the highways and destinations in the atlas and figured out when he would pass cars when it was ok for him to get back in the other lane. He said I was a whiz at counting change and knowing what my change should be when I paid for stuff myself.

I know just how she feels..... Too bad she can't DIS. Good luck!
