My daughter is taking a photography class

and she needs to buy a $200 camera and supplies - should I talk her into dropping the class?
 
If she really has her heart set on it I would let her do it if you can. Has she always had an interest in photography? The camera can be used for years after so I wouldn't consider it a waste.
 
Doesn't the school or whever she is taking this from have cameras you can rent? A lot do.
 
If she enjoys that, I would encourage her, rather than the opposite. It can be very rewarding, recreationally, as well as professionally. I have a good friend whose daughter took a photography course in HS, went on to the Chicago Art Institute, majoring in photography, and is now working as a commercial photographer. She never really did anything with cameras prior to that HS course. Good luck.
