Good morning Dinsey Brides,
My soon-to-be 'son' has asked my husband and my dad for my daughter's hand in marriage. We are taking a family trip in 25 days to WDW and staying at SSR in a 2 bedroom villa.
We were trying to figure out what was available to make it special and I left a message with the special events coordinators. There was NO availability at the CRT for any meal where they offer a proposal package. Lucky enough, the coordinator called me back on Monday and said she would put all 9 of us at the CRT on the 9th.
After the meal, the server will bring out a covered dessert dish and present it to my daughter. He will say something to the affect, 'a special dessert from the chef.' Once he lifts the lid, she will see the glass slipper on a satin pillow with the ring inside and the proposal ensues!! How exciting. There will be a champagne (non-alcoholic because we are in the CRT with children---plus I'm allergic to champagne) and they get to keep the slipper which will be etched on one side with their names and the date. The other side will be a sentiment which he has yet to decide on. The photographer will be available and we have pre-paid for the photopass...so the great pics will be mine and I won't have to be worried about getting 'once in a lifetime photos!!!'
I am looking at the prices of the Disney weddings and it's a bit out of our budget and at this point we are just making it through the proposal.
Any tips on a sweet and nice wedding at Disney without breaking the bank. The problem is we have family ALL over the country and I would like for them to be able to join us for the wedding. The escape package mentions 20 people max including the bride and groom. The other packages are out of our price range and the cruise would be awesome, but again, not many of the family would be able to attend.
Maybe they will decide on a local wedding and take an awesome honeymoon at WDW and DCL!!!!
We will see what they come up with. Either way, my promise to her a long time ago is as a mother, I promise to stay out of her planning as my mom took over my wedding, which was a double wedding with my sister. I was in North Carolina and the wedding was in Nebraska. I showed up with a husband, a dress and some rings. I didn't and don't have a problem with it because I see it this way. My mom didn't have her dream wedding and was having fun with it.
Best of luck with your wedding plans and any advice would be appreciated. I am going on 16 years of marriage so I have been out of the 'wedding scene' awhile!!
Many wishes for a long and happy marriage and remember, your spouse is your BFF and that makes for a strong marriage!! Laughter is really good medicine!!
