My dad is now in the hospital. He went down to a state park to have a camp-out and fun with some friends of his.
Well, after having so much fun, he had a mild heart attack. :(

He didn't even think anything was really wrong. Just thought that he'd strained himself or pulled a muscle.
It took him blacking out, laying on the floor of the boat he was on and waking up there to even agree to let paramedics check him out.
He was still sure that he was fine until he stood up to go to the ambulance to get checked out and then nearly falling down again for him to agree that something was really wrong.

Well, the got him to the emergency room and found that he had an artery that was totally blocked. So they went in and inserted a stintz to open up the artery. He has now admitted that he's felt the same type of pain for quite a while now. But he ignored it due to the type of work he does. As he works for a printing company cutting paper, he lifts heavy paper all day long. So he thought that he just strains himself too much.
So now he knows that all this time was really just a warning of what was happening.

Most people who see him would never judge him for a heart attack. He's always been healthy and very active. He stands on his feet all day throwing around heavy paper. The late at night and the weekends, he spends at bars dancing. He also hasn't smoked in over 20 years (although the second hand smoke at the bars don't do him any good). And since he's so active, he's never been overweight either. In fact, in the last few months, he's lost a few pounds.
But, what people don't know is how he eats. Mainly he eats frozen dinners, frozen burritos, fast food, and basically lots of cholesterol and fatty foods. Very little fruits and veggies. He also just three weeks ago gave up drinking alcohol after several years of heavy drinking.

He also has a stubborness to just keep living his life the way he wants to regardless of warnings unless something really stops him.
And if he had been more stubborn, and if he had not had caring people around him, he would not be having another Father's Day.

So, Hopefully, he will now be OK healthwise. But, he will have to make a couple more changes in lifestyle. He will also not be returning to his job any time soon. :(

Wow...

So sorry to read this. I am sorry that your family is having this scare and I truly hope that your Dad recovers fully and strongly. Sending good thoughts towards you, your family, and of course, your Dad.

Sounds like though two friends of his are his guardian angels. Thank goodness they were there when he needed them most.

My best wishes,
Disney Dreams

I'm glad they insisted he get checked out and is now under proper care!

My dad had a severe stroke 7 years ago after years of ignoring his health. It's hard to watch when you see it coming.
